BIM-PPT-Decagon
A series of 10 acrylic paintings by Reginald Brooks.
An intimate connection exists between the 3-4-5 Primitive Pythagorean Triple and the BIM. The BIM is short for the BBS-ISL Matrix: a fixed, numerical array depicting the Inverse Square Law (ISL).
All Pythagorean Triples — right triangles of whole integer numbers that satisfy the Pythagorean Theorem — are readily depicted on the BIM.
The BIM also heavily favors the number 5 and its sequences, thus the pentagon and double-pentagon (decagon).
The base Primitive Pythagorean Triple (PPT) is the 3-4-5 triangle. It has a very close approximation to the key angles and edges of the decagon. The very same decagon that informs the structure of our double stranded, helical DNA — as well as many human pathogenic viruses (pentagonal capsids).
The beauty of the geometry — with or without the accompanying algebraic — is the foremost theme of this work.
