#down with caesar

So I'm reading the iconic Fahrenheit 451 in my English class(one more week left of highschool!).

This is gonna be spoiler heavy for the third part(and for the play Julius Caesar), so if you haven't read it and want to, don't read past the cut!

I noticed that I knew the quote used by Beatty before he is killed. It's from Julius Caesar by Shakespeare. Beatty quotes Brutus, but what he doesn't realize is he is Caesar. At least from my view of the story. Beatty has no plans to kill anyone, unlike Brutus. Beatty is loyal to the cause he stands for, his hubris is what kills him, similar to Caesar. Beatty is so blind to what is happening he thinks he is the tragic hero. But he ends up dead from the mistake of trusting an unstable man with a weapon. He thought he could control fire and Montag, but he quickly learns he can't. I love this book so much, it's great. And it's so cool having a teacher who is making us connect it to the modern day. Just some food for thought.
