listening to @downssides is weird because on one hand you feel like you're being shown the beauty of existing and that to exist means you deserve love (how ever much of it you desire) but on the other you'll wonder if their lyrics were made to specifically target your insecurities (in the good way)
Either way I leave feeling really affirmed about my aroace identity

it is a walk through my personal memory lane, cherry picking the words that resonated and painting a beautiful future in my dreams. golden sunsets on the estuary shore represents, to me, how so little time can change so much.
over a year ago the first song for this ep was written. it was ever gold. i had high hopes and even lower lows before its release. however, i also got some of my biggest dreams to enter my reality. downssides became a band, i found a place that accepts me for who i am, i am making new and more meaningful connections with the world around me.
my hope is that this ep can represent all that for you, too, as you listen. that at the end of the day, the sun is as golden for you as it is for me. i hope that it reminds you that you are loved, by someone out there in the grand scheme of the universe. and i hope that it reminds you that you can love people too. a little harder. a little more boundlessly. throw caution to the wind sometimes and just Love People.

we are downssides, a two piece from michigan making biblically accurate midwest emo music.
on the left is aj, the keys and soul of operation make this shit sound pretty. they can usually be found picking up more unnecessarily crafty hobbies, dying their hair orange to feel a little bit closer to hayley williams, or instilling hope in the hearts of customer service workers. we love aj. aj may or may not be an otter in disguise. we do not talk about it.
on the right is quentin, your not-so-local creator of chaos ideals. they are typically caught amongst the clouds, what they get up to is as much their guess as it is yours. they may be screaming into the void. they may be having a little jog. they may be swordfighting the lobster who stole their credit card. no one is ever certain. rumor has it quentin is not in fact human, but two very large raccoons in a ball cap and button down. they deny this.
together? they make “music”, allegedly. imagine if you took the sounds of noah kahan and combined them with the angst of 20-22 year olds who had to learn how to become adults with no help, then slapped some taylor swift and fall out boy inspiration on there and made it aroace. that’s downssides basically.
