‘Wildflower’ - 5 Seconds Of Summer (Music Video) (2020).
I even want to date cartoon 5sos! DONT STOP DOING WHAT YOUR DOING 5sos-official
The true tea:
Girls Talk Boys would have gotten so much more appreciation if it had been on the Youngblood album.
SO
Girls Talk Boys was released as a track for the remake of the movie Ghostbusters. The original movie was made and set in the 80s, so it's pretty fitting that 5sos made GTB with a clear influence of the 80s for the remake. They used similar chords to the original soundtrack and all. So it had an 80s aesthetic, right?
Now, at this stage in 5sos' path, they had released two albums: their title album, and Sounds Good Feels Good. The fandom was used to these albums, used to the style of songs on these albums, used to these aesthetics, therefore-
The fandom was not used to the 80s aesthetic. So when GTB was released, with its lil 80s sound, the fandom was like "K. what is this." And let it FLOP.
(Obviously there were fans who loved it, including myself; I'm just saying the majority of fans I've seen talk about it don't.)
AND THEN
When Youngblood was released, there was a definite 80s inspiration shown through certain songs (Talk fast for example, ya know, the BOP that everyone loves? And for a good reason?)
Youngblood as an album didn't flop because the fandom loved the album as a whole and learned to love the developed, different tracks such as Talk Fast (WHICH COULDNT BE MORE 80s IF IT TRIED)
If Girls Talk Boys had been released on Youngblood and not before, it would've fitted into the aesthetic for the album. Fans would've had a more open mind towards it, fans would not still be stuck in the comfort zone of their first two albums, fans would have loved it from the start, and IT WOULD NOT HAVE FLOPPED.
*sips tea*
(Not saying anyone's opinions are wrong btw this is just how I see it)
