I am Dr James Grimm, I've been a teacher here at Beacon Academy for almost 10 years now and each and every one of those have been spent giving you students the knowledge you require of the creatures of Grimm.
Now then, before we begin, I think it's only right that you get to learn something of me, considering I'll be doing so of each of you. So, without any further ado, let us begin.
Kibishī Jūryoku is the cane you currently see me using. I know it may not appear to be much, but this cane is indeed hiding its true nature beneath the surface. The shaft is (in reality) the sheath for a Gravity-Dust encrusted Rapier blade, and the head is where the handle extends from (as well as a swept hilt, of course). And yes, I did indeed say Gravity Dust. By circulating aura through the blade, I can change how gravity affects me. This can achieve anything from decreasing the pressure gravity places on me, to (admittedly imperfect) flight.
Incase you couldn't tell by the wings, I am a faunus, more spesifically a Gryphon faunus. While I'm unable to use my wings for powered flight, they do allow me to turn faster, slow descents, and even glide short distances. This combined with my heightened senses means I'm able to efficiently place my strikes where they will be most effective.
If I'm honest with you all, it took a very long time to decipher what exactly my semblance is. However, the conclusion I've come to is that my semblance increases my power and sensory capabilities based of the weight of my opponents' sins. Judgement, as I've called it, also causes my aura reserve to swell (though this is equally dependent on the opponent I'm facing). However, this isn't without drawbacks. For starters, the increase in power comes with an increase in metabolism, meaning I'll tire more quickly. Also, my semblance is rendered useless against any Grimm below Titan-class, as they aren't intelligent enough to realise that they're doing wrong. Finally, my semblance does have a tell, my eyes will turn black and gold respectively, meaning an opponent will be able to see when I'm using my semblance, and can change strategies accordingly.
However, despite the drawbacks, I graduated from this academy and became a successful Huntsman (and quite a good one if I do say so myself), and each of you shall do so as well if you work hard. I see before me many future Huntsman and Huntresses, so work hard and you will succeed.
Enough of that though, and enough of me, I'd say it's about time we started class, don't you? Good! Then please turn to page 46 in your textbooks and........
