Michael Collins became the new Deathlok in the 1st issue of the Deathlok limited series, cover date July 1990. The issue introduced Michael Collins, Nick Collins, Tracy Collins, Jim Dworman, Laurie, Emilia Verdugo, and the cyber tank. They were created by Dwayne McDuffie, Gregory Wright, and Butch Guice. After Michael discovered that he was actually working on a cybernetic super soldier, he tried to quiet. His bosses didn't like that and removed his brain. Since John Kelly's brain was no longer functioning due to the events in Marvel Comics Presents 62, they placed Michael's brain into the Deathlok head. Unlike John Kelly, Michael was a software engineer and could access Deathlok in ways John couldn't. ("The Brains of the Outfit" Deathlok 1, Marvel Comic Event)
