🎙️ — you keep encouraging byakuya to give toko a chance, completely unaware that he’s been in love with you the entire time. ft. byakuya togami # fem! reader
the day was pretty much over by now. classes ended, your extra club activities finished an hour ago or so already, too. deciding to take a break, you went out to the courtyard and leaned against a railing to have some fresh air, hair gently blowing in the breeze, still dressed in your practice outfit from rehearsal. being the ultimate j-pop idol meant you were used to attention—but never quite like this.
byakuya stood a few feet away, arms crossed, watching you with his usual cold, calculating stare. you didn’t even need to turn around to know it was him.
“you should really give toko a chance,” you piped up all of a sudden, eyes locked onto the sky. “she really likes you, you know? and she’s been trying so hard. i think you two could—”
“enough.” his reply was instant, sounding final.
you blinked, surprised by the intensity in his tone as you finally moved to face him, seeing how his lapis eyes were narrowed sharp behind his glasses.
“do you truly believe i would waste my time on that stuttering wreck?” he said with disdain. “she is beneath me. everyone here is beneath me. and yet you keep pushing her toward me like some pathetic matchmaker.”
you opened your mouth, but he didn’t let you speak. “do you have any idea how infuriating it is?” he took a step closer, jaw tight. “watching you smile and encourage that girl while remaining completely oblivious to what’s right in front of you?”
wait. what?
“byakuya…?” you were confused by what he meant by that. noticing this, the male scoffed and put it bluntly, “i don’t want toko. i never have.”
“i’m just saying—”
“i heard what you said.”
byakuya adjusted his glasses with a finger, expression unreadable now. “and i find it increasingly irritating that you keep insisting on this nonsense.”
you tilted your head, still confused. “it’s not nonsense. she really likes you. and you two have more in common than you think—”
“enough.” he tried his hardest not to express too much frustration so you wouldn’t hear how much he was affected. “do you truly believe i would lower myself to someone like her? a stuttering, pathetic commoner who can barely string a sentence together without fainting?”
you opened your mouth, but he continued before you could speak.
“you keep pushing her toward me like some delusional matchmaker. do you enjoy watching me reject her over and over? or are you simply that blind?”
he was breathing harder now, cheeks faintly flushed—the closest thing to emotional vulnerability you’ve ever seen from him.
“i have tolerated your foolishness because you, at least, possess some measure of intellect. unlike the rest of these worthless insects.” he let out a short humorless laugh. “and yet here you are, trying to pawn me off to that freak. it’s almost insulting.”
“and yet you keep trying to shove me toward someone else,” his fists clenched. “do you enjoy tormenting me? is that your idea of entertainment, idol?”
heavy silence stretched between you. needless to say, you were stunned as you finally grasped what he really meant behind all those words.
“you…like me?”
byakuya scoffed again. “like? what a pathetic word. i have spent months trying to ignore how completely you’ve occupied my thoughts. and you’ve been too busy playing matchmaker to notice.”
he stepped closer, until only mere inches were left of distance.
“so stop,” he said, voice lower now. “stop trying to give me to toko. stop acting like i could ever want anyone but you.”
his hand came up slowly, hesitating for half a second before gently holding your chin, forcing you to meet his eyes. “you’re the only one worthy of a togami,” he muttered. “don’t make me say it again.”
the wind whistled across the rooftop as byakuya togami—the cold, arrogant heir with a promised future—looked at you with something almost desperate in his eyes. waiting. hoping.
Byakuya fixes your shirt constantly. When you step out of your dorm, when you're walking in the halls, when you're sat down next to him for breakfast, all the time.
He says it's to make sure you look put together, he wouldn't be with just anyone. He's the Byakuya Togami and he expects you to act like you are deserving of being with him, this was the bare minimum. Your shirts must be ironed, your hair neat, no foul language, the works.
And to some extent, that is why he always messed with your collar. He had a reputation to uphold and he would never let you change that, but it wasn't only that.
He liked the affection. He wasn't the lovey-dovey type, you knew this already, it was common knowledge. There should be no PDA, he'd give a kiss on the cheek in private if he was in a good mood, and cuddling on regular occasions sounded like insanity. But still, the act of fixing your collar gave him a sense of comfort.
It was like a reminder you were still there, imperfect as you are, but real. He wasn't one to hold your hand but to touch you in some way was around the same level in his mind. So even though your shirt is completely fine most of the time, he'll continue to 'fix it' throughout the day, giving small reprimands which he doesn't mean for you to take too seriously considering they are just fabricated.
It was just for appearances obviously, that's what he'll always say. But, whether he'll admit it or not, you are his comfort. For the few seconds that his hand can brush the skin of your neck and tug the fabric of your shirt makes him feel human in a way he can't explain.

Hello, I really like your stories about Danganronpa. I was wondering if you could make a Byakuya Togami x reader where the reader is super quiet and doesn't talk a lot but is a really gorgeous girl but stays in the shadows, but Byakuya respects her (might have a few love feelings as well).
But during the trial, one of the people accusing you of murdering and Byakuya fully defending you, like the moment it slipped out of their mouth.
I was wondering if you could try making two endings: one in which the other did vote y/n and Byakuya was forced to watch your executions while he was trying not to cry in front of the other, or you could make one in which you didn't end up getting voted and Byakuya was happy on the inside.
Though if you can do two, then I would like the sad ending. :D

#GENERAL ROMANTIC HEADCANONS
At first, Byakuya didn't pay you any attention, You're staying in the dark most of the time, so why would he bother to give attention to someone who prefers to be a useless shadow?
That's what he said at first, until he noticed your real talent, and the way you help around in the trial makes him approve of you.
He knows he's crushing, but he refuses to actually believe it, he thinks it's just some silly feelings, assuming it's just impression at first.
At trials, he doesn't make conversations with you, he's focused on making a point, and cutting everyone off to speak his opinion.
But surprisingly, he does listen to you. Because it's rare when you talk, because you don't bother with nonsense, so most of your words are facts and hints to push the trial forward.
Byakuya appreciates the fact you don't speak unless you have something important to say. he wouldn't have any real conversation with you during trials, only agreeing with you when you say something useful.
BAD ENDING
But then, if everyone starts pointing fingers at you? He wouldn't hesitate to immediately cut through their nonsense, adjusting his glasses as he defends you.
“for such idiots like you to accuse someone like her is even more disappointing than i thought.”
“huh? But her alibi doesn't stand up, man! Plus, she was way too suspicious the whole time, she's already sweating!” >> Leon
He would argue and argue, but soon, he will indeed start seeing the holes in your defenses, and soon he will be silenced by the truth. You murdered, you killed the victim, you led everyone into another trial.
He will have to see the person who made him feel something unique and different, something brighter than those idiots. And he didn't even have a proper conversation with you yet.
While he's seeing your execution, he can't look. Literally can't, he's just acting as if he doesn't care, adjusting his glasses while looking down, a small "tch.." leaving his lips, and there's a slight tremble in his hands.
God it hurts so bad, and he's not even waiting for Toko to finish her sentence about how 'manipulative' you were, begging like some innocent sheep, he's bolting right to his own room. Love is definitely inefficient.
GOOD ENDING
BUT! If you were proved to be innocent, and the real culprit was caught, much to Kyoko's great evidence. Byakuya would exhale gently, but it would be a short moment of relaxation, because he's about to beat the culprit down for putting you as the target (verbally)
He wouldn't care about the execution, he's focused on your expression. How are you handling everything? To see your beautiful face so afraid, empty, sad, or whatever expression is there at the moment would make him feel a small bit of empathy, small. But there.
“what's that reaction, hm? It's odd to see you react to someone who tried to frame you this way, down you think?”
He'd actually approach you when you're at your usual, isolated spot, and start a conversation. It may start awkwardly, but maybe you two will bond overtime, and finally get a friend... Or something much more, out of this prideful rich bitch guy.

this relationship is actually okay
(shocker on my part)
any relationship with byakuya is going to have some infighting, but i'd say this one has less than one usually would.
byakuya will never outwardly say how he feels about any of you and he gives many backhanded comlements, but there is a difference between how he treats the three of you and others.
these differences include the extent of his comments (and how frequent they are) and the fact he actually spends money on you. he'll always say it was because he saw you staring whatever it is he bought you and only bought it to stop you from asking, but he does genuinley hope you like it. even if he already knows you will.
makoto is and always will be bad with his words- especially in a relationship. if he tries to express how he feels, he'll stumble over his words until he shuts himself up out of embaressment.
but there are times when he'll say something sweet without fumbling!
and then he realizes what he's just said and goes red in the face and doesn't talk for the rest of the conversation.
unlike these two, kyoko is very straight forward with her emotions.
she's blunt about it, usually assuming things like they're obvious
an example, her giving you a gift. if you express surprise and / or gratitude, she looks at you with a raised brow and says something along the lines of:
".. why are you surprised? you're my partner, it's only logical i'd gift you things."
it's kind of rare that all three of them show any physical affection
this is because:
byakuya sees it as weakness
makoto is too much of a coward
and kyoko doesn't see much of a point in it
but every now and then, you'll be sandwich between makoto and kyoko
byakuya's still not touching any of you, but he'll sit nearby and watch
like i said a second ago, byakuya's love language is gifts. that's the only way he can show you he cares. but he still makes sure to make a comment when he gives it to you.
makoto's is acts of service. since he can't use his words and he's too chicken to start up any kind of physical affection, the best he can do is do simple things like hold doors open, pull out chairs, and walk on the outside of the sidewalk.
kyoko best shows she cares through words of affirmation, along with occasional physical affection. physical affection from her is very small and simple, a hand on your back or shoulder or a quick pat to the back of your head.
overall, there are some awkward moments, but that's to be excpected from a relationship that's bad expressing emotion. but no matter what, you still no theyr care.
