New song: “Antipode” I wrote this with my friend Ryan, and I think it turned out nicely.
New music: “Nonet” (casually copies the same description I wrote in Soundcloud.....)
This is actually an older piece of mine that I wrote as a sophomore in high school back in 2007. Since it turns 9 years old later this year, I thought it would be an appropriate time to re-record it. It's a happy little tune that expands on a single rhythm that (unbeknownst to me at the time I wrote it) is from bar 3 of Steve Reich's "Clapping Music". Written for the completely standard instrumentation of 3 violins, 2 violas, 2 cellos, a double bass, and a piccolo that aggressively takes over the song a little more than halfway through.
I hope you like this as much as I liked revisiting an old favorite.
Introducing TR.PG.MP
Technically my second EP but the first one I’ve released under the name Dr. Vblschrf. A collection of 6 instrumental tracks I’ve been working on this year.
It needs to be mixed and mastered better; I’m still learning how to do that well. But for now it’s done and sounds decent enough for me to let it out into the open as a finished work.
You can even buy it if you want to!
New song: “Terminus”
That finishes off the album! I’ll post that at a later time (and also when I’ve given my ears a rest from trying to work on this one).
New Song: “Mixolydian Eulogy”
An ambient piece written with my friend Ryan. He came up with the ostinato in the piano, around which I built the piece with his input. My usual style is pretty wall-of-sound, but we kept this one simple, making it an exercise in subtle changes in texture.
(Make sure you have some good bass on your speakers; use headphones or desktop speakers if you can, not just laptop speakers!)
my greatest achievement in life is single-handedly taking the word “vblschrf” from 0 results on google (back in 2007 when i came up with it) to about 1310 results.
New song: “Pacific”
I’ve been having a bad few weeks so I wrote this to help myself relax. It worked.
Uses Absynth, pianos, celesta, and an EBow on a guitar
