Bushroot can go dormant.
Ok but like, think about it.
Bushroot is entirely made out of vegetation/plants. Winter is ones of the hardest times for most plants. Some of them dying off or simply going into a dormant state.
We've seen Bushroot wondering around during the winter time so we know he's not affected by it, but what if this is possible by him willingly modifying the plant that makes his body into a winter friendly type. It would be simple for him, but let's say making this changes at the beginning of every winter is exhausting for him. Both mentally and physically (specially if he has to stay out in the harsh cold for to long).
Well his other option would be to stay in his normal state inside the Greenhouse, but that can get boring after a few weeks of being inside 4 walls with nothing to do but talk to his plants and think of future experiment. So going dormant could be a good idea for him.
I like to think his "Dormant state" would look very similar to the D17 version in 'Let's get dangerous". All drained of color, unmotivated, eyes glazed from tiredness and his posture being horrible. But that would only be if he's woken up during this time.
Regularly he would sleep inside a homemade cocoon he makes with thick wooden vines around himself, to make sure he's safe while he takes his long winter sleep of course.
Don't worry about the plants in his Greenhouse, he'll make sure that his heatlamps turn on and off automatically at specific times and that the sprinkling system does the same, and Spyke will make sure to wake him up if something isn't right in the Greenhouse.
Bonus: I like to think the rest of the Fearsome Four tend to go visit the greenhouse once in a while during the winter time, to make sure the Doctor isn't dead or kidnapped.
