i’m home sick so i’m watching stargate (1994) for the first time. i wanted to watch something else with james spader in it (bc i love him sm) after i did a rewatch of the watcher (2000) the other night (which i’ve always liked him in, it’s actually the movie that made me love him in the first place many many manymanymany years ago).

so i was looking for another spader movie on his imdb page and saw stargate and it said his character was a doctor and i was like hooooly shit, SOLD! and then i found the movie streaming (thankfully) and it said he’s an EGYPTOLOGIST?! and he’s smart and sweet and adorable with his fluffy swoopy hair and spectacles?!!! i’m LOSING it over here!

AND!!! and and- i find out that kurt freaking russell is in it too??! double whammy!! also love him! anyway this is a great time for me. this movie is checking all my boxes, baby

New Stargate is coming up

There was a version of myself who would have been wildly excited about this. I'm mildly curious.

I'm not interested in cameos or reboots of characters we already know. But I would love to see how the trailblazers are honored in the story of Stargate, moving forward.

I feel like something really important should be named after our beloved originals.

Teal'c - A military base at the Alpha Site? A class of warships? A military award? O'Neill and Hammond had ships named after them (O'Neill's got all blowed up, though)

Wherever Daniel Jackson earned his PhD should have a whole library or something named after him.

Samantha Carter - hmm, a weapon? Like whatever planet-buster thing came after the Mark IX?

It would be pretty cool if Tatiana Shanks was involved somehow. From pre-born-Harcesis to award-winning writer and director. Nice.
