Today marks one year past an extremely dark period in my life -- a repetition of self-destructive patterns, yet the beginning towards self-enlightenment and personal re-invention. Rather than succumb to a decision that might be seen and remembered as a burden, I choose to celebrate my downfalls, because I have learned each time we fall, is another opportunity to rise higher than before.
If you or someone you know is struggling in the midst of a dependent relationship, recovering from codependency, or if you’re at a crossroads, below is a list of reading material that continue to lift my spirits with advice and encouragement:
The Language of Letting Go: Meditation Series, by: Melody Beattie
Beyond Codependency: And Getting Better All the Time, by: Melody Beattie
Start Where You Are: Life Lessons in Getting from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be, by: Chris Gardner

His Day is Done - A Tribute Poem for Nelson Mandela by Dr. Maya Angelou
