Summary: When you discover you have cancer you are determined to keep the secret from your husband, pulling your best friend into the mix of deception.
A/N: Weee!! Okay, drabble 8. Let’s see…
FEEDBACK IS MY SUSTENANCE!!!!
After a couple hours of television and you screaming about how badly you wanted to kill Negan you and Jensen got dressed and ready to go out.
Jensen wanted to take you out for lunch, and you needed groceries as well anyway.
You pulled on a maroon colored butterfly dress, zipping up your boots and tugging on a hoodie.
“y/n, its cold. For god sakes put on a damn coat.” Jensen said to you.
“Why would i wear a coat for Chuck?” you demanded, unable to keep the smirk off your face as you grabbed your purse.
“I’ll be fine Jay, I’m warm blooded.”
Jensen wrapped his jean jacket around your shoulders.
“So am I, it means nothing.” he stated, “Stop being stubborn.”
“That’s like asking me not to breathe.” you said to the Ackles,
“Apparently.” your husband rolled his eyes as he grabbed the keys, “I’m gonna start the car and get it warmed up.” he said to you, “Wait here.”
You sighed, rolling your eyes but doing as he asked. You watched him through the window, seeing as he slowly but surely made it to the car, being careful of the snow and ice that covered your walk.
You bit your lip as you watched him climb into the car, hearing the engine come to life as he then hopped out and quickly but carefully made his way back to the house.
You stepped back as he opened the door, walking in and closing the door behind him. His arms wrapped around himself as he shivered.
“Cold?” you asked,
“shut up.” he muttered, “go put some pants on.” he requested.
You rolled your eyes, slipping out of your boots.
“I’ll put on leggings.” you stated simply, heading up the stairs.
You got to your room and pulled on a simple pair of black leggings before heading back down the stairs and to the door where Jensen was waiting.
“Ready?” he asked, zipping up his coat.
You nodded, slipping back into your boots.
As you slid your boots on Jensen buttoned up the jean jacket you wore over your hoodie.
“dammit Jensen I’m not a four year old.” you informed him,
“Well you act like one.” he said, doing up the last button “If i don’t do it i know you sure as hell won’t. Can’t have you getting sick.”
He straightened up and pressed a kiss to your forehead, “Let’s go, and be careful, it’s slippery out.”
You nodded and took Jensen’s hand, walking out the door with him and closing it behind you.
You pulled your hood up over your head, adjusting your hold on Jensen so that you were gripping his arm, walking slowly.
With Jensen holding onto you and the both of you going slowly you finally made it to the car. Jensen walked around so you could get in first, opening the door and helping you in before shutting the door.
You watched as he walked back around and climbed into the driver’s seat, rubbing his hands together and holding them in front of the vents.
“Ready to go home yet?” you asked jokingly, earning an eye roll from your husband.
“Dad!” The oldest and only Dawson boy yelled in excitement as he ran from the parking lot into the firehouse, his backpack high on his back. “Hey buddy! How was school?” Lucas caught the body just in time before he knocked him over. “We went on our field trip to the Statue of Liberty today. It was so cool. We took the ferry over the Hudson and my hair blew in the wind like you see in the movies.” The boy wonder exclaimed and Lucas watched in admiration as he rambled on his trip to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island which was the original port of entry for many immigrants coming to America quite some time ago.
After Molly, the middle Dawson child and first daughter to the couple, had been born Lucas took a sabbitcal from the firehouse and joined headquarters in the Office of Fire Investigations, and remained there until their third child came into the world and was almost two years old. It was only when they were old enough to understand his schedule, and behave for Aubree on a basis where he had to be gone for twenty-four hours at a time, did he return to the firehouse. He had even begun the move to start testing for Batallion Chief so eh coudl run his own firehouse. Their son, definitely more mature than most boys his age, helped out with being the man of the house. Lucas zoned back into when he caught the boy gazing in admiration at the Squad truck.
“You want to go sit in the truck don’t you?” He questioned and the boy nodded his head excitedly. “I’ll take him.” Gabby, his sister-in-law, said in passing as he dragged her off to the Squad truck. “Be careful!” He shouted at the pair. “Oh and I signed you and Mom up for career day next week. Bye!” Lucas’ son shouted back at him as he opened the door to the Squad truck. “Of course you did.” He chuckled, shaking his head. “What’s so funny?” Aubree joined them on the apparatus floor of the firehouse with one hand holding each of the girls’ hands. “There’s my girls.” He kissed each and every one of them, lastly landing one on Aubree’s lips. “Your son signed us for career day next week. He didn’t tell you?” He chuckled. “That boy...” The two of them shook their heads. “Molly! Kate! Come here!” He yelled for his sisters and they took off. “Our boy.” Lucas nudged her with his hip and she did the same to him with their arms crossed over their respective chest.
Eighth drabble. Ugh, I do not like this - but a drabble's a drabble.

Simple
~P~
Toph's world was a simple world to begin with.
She didn't really have to worry about her appearance and she didn't care of other people's opinions about her – this made her life that much easier to live. But when she joined Team Avatar and began to participate in the war, that's when it became difficult and exciting.
She and her friends spent time and time again jumping from villages and forests, never staying in one place for long. The Earthbender hated being away from the ground, but at the same time, they had to keep moving. All the lying and deceiving was something the brutally honest child hated, but she adored the adventure of it all that she had never experienced.
When she began to develop a crush on Sokka, things became even worse. She became flustered and incoherent around him, something she had also never experienced before. She abhorred feeling so weak when she was usually so powerful, so self-assertive, but also took happiness in her newfound emotions. Things declined, however, when Suki was introduced to her life and Sokka proved to have feelings for the Kyoshi Warrior. Jealousy – it gurgled in the pit of Toph's stomach, but she tried to pay it no mind. And so for the sake of her Southern Water Tribe friend, Toph put on a friendly face and accepted Suki into their group with pseudo-happiness.
When the war ended, her life started to show some semblance of becoming normal again – she opened a Metalbending Academy and began to train a select number of students. And while her feelings for Sokka died down in this time and the two became especially close, she couldn't help but feel a nagging thought in the back of her head each time she was around him, reminding her that she still kind of liked him.
But the Earthbender ignored that and years passed, her becoming the esteemed Chief of Police of Republic City and Sokka a Councilman. As she grew older, her job became more and more high-stake and risky, more stressful. While she enjoyed it originally, it one day began to drag down on her, leaving her rugged after each long day ended.
One night – months after Sokka's break up with Suki, for reasons he left disclosed – the pair were together, venting out the pressure pushed down on them by their positions. They loved their jobs, but sometimes it was just too much for them.
"I... I wish our worlds could be simpler again," she admitted after a while, staring blankly at the ground. "There's just so much going on right now." He looked up at her, and she felt him shift and place a hand on her arm. She felt discomfort pool within her – what was he doing?
"I don't know if this will make yours or mine any simpler... or just screw us up more," he whispered. "But Toph, I think I may be in love with you. I needed to let you know that." He had his usual goofy tone as he said it, but there was a slight edge to it that Toph caught that told her he was serious and that caused her heart to leap into her throat.
The atmosphere was thick and quiet then, and Toph had to force herself to take deep breaths. Leaning over uncertainly, she raised her hand and felt at his face, and her finger pulling over his lips, she leaned forward uncertainly and pressed her own lips to his chastely. When they parted ways, her other hand found his and curled around it. Her heart thudding wildly in her chest and feeling as though a weight had just been lifted off of her shoulders, she breathed, "You definitely helped simplify it, Snoozles."
