Day 30 - Hat

Not gonna lie, this was hard (ᇂ_ᇂ |||) It's a cheat day :) May was longer so today 2 for the price of 1! (ﾉ∀`♥) This as well finishes the drabbles prompt challenge !

Snowfall was heavier than expected this year. The cold nibbling at your skin, making your cheeks pink.

It was your fault that you went out without enough layers. Too eager to meet him and hunt for trinkets. 

You ended up holding two steaming cups, waiting for him. Your vision turned black when something was pulled on your head.

“Xavier!” you tried to lift the material from your face, not spilling your drinks. 

“Now, it should be better” he smiled, fixing your new hat, hand lingering on your cheek. His eyes shined with affection that made your heart skip a beat.

"Are you sure we can't tell Jayce?" you snickered.

Viktor shushed you, though he could barely contain his own chuckle. "Yes. I am sure."

You and Viktor had been watching as Jayce made his way through the crowd. People stopped to stare. Giggling when they were out of earshot. Luckily, the pair of you were far enough away not to get swept into the chaos.

You caught up as Caitlyn stepped from her post and pulled him aside. "Jayce, do you know you have a bird on your head?"

"It's not a bird." Jayce rolled his eyes. "It's a hat."

Drabble Challenge 2025 Day 30 Prompt: Hat

Andy bounced in anticipation.  It was the Day of Memories and Trudy’d decided to try something new this year.  She’d read about an Old World tradition of kids dressed in costumes begging people for candy and thought it sounded fun.

He adjusted his horned hat as he headed to the living room.  Lucy and Vivi had helped him make his costume, and he looked dandy.

Logan eyed Andy critically, taking in the entire spectacle. Andy held his breath, would he like his Logan costume?  

Finally, the man he admired most in the world broke into a broad grin, “Nice hat.”

Drabble Challenge — Day 30: Hat

   Jamil’s worried about nothing again. They’ve been here so many times that Kalim can’t count them anymore, but his body is still tense as they step out of the bus and into the city. No one should be that jumpy over a simple shopping outing, but that doesn’t stop Jamil from glancing at him every few seconds to make sure he’s not going anywhere.

   The only thing Kalim can do to ease his worries is bring down the brink of his hat a little so no one can take a clear look at his face and hold his hand tightly.

"General, I didn't take you for a good drinking partner, but you may put my own brother to shame." Dusa spoke in a slurred confession, the euphoric dizziness creeping in after the tenth glass of red and fifth shot of something similar to whisky yet entirely different. "And I never thought I'd see you so...casual. Am I having a stroke?"

Lem fixed her wide white hat and gave a lazy smile.

"People can't help surprising each other, it seems. Even though most of us follow the same blind instincts, over and over, little more than dogs."
