cw: DOWN BAD DRACO! awkward Draco who gets shy around reader, feat. Pansy, Blaise, & Theo as Draco's backup.
A/N: I love shy Draco. I AM SO SORRY THAT I HAVE BEEN INACTIVE LATELY. Aghhh I haven't posted anything in sooo long, I've been busy hihi.
⊱ ─── ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ ─── ⊰
Draco Malfoy was many things: a Slytherin, a menace on the Quidditch pitch, and the heir to one of the oldest wizarding families in Britain—but he had never felt this pathetic before. Not even the time he fell off his broom second year and cried because his wrist bent funny.
No, this was worse. Because he hadn’t just fallen—he’d plummeted, in front of you, with a flower in one hand and all his dignity left wilting somewhere between the Charms and Transfiguration section at the library.
You hadn’t looked back.
Not once.
Not even when he’d called after you, your name barely leaving his mouth before it got stuck in his throat with the taste of regret and disbelief.
He knew what it must’ve looked like. You thought it was a joke. That he was the joke. And for once, he couldn’t even blame you.
This catastrophe had all began the night before.
The Slytherin common room was filled only with the sound of crackling fire and the soft chatter of students with the scratch of quills against their parchment—until their heads turn to a yell that broke the silence.
"DRACO! We've been on this for over an hour now," Pansy sighed as she sat down on the couch between Theo and Blaise. "And for the millionth time, you are not going to DIE asking a girl to the Yule Ball!"
Pansy's "How to Woo a Girl 101" was clearly very hard for Draco to comprehend. Because based on the look on Theo's and Blaise's faces, it was not going well. At all.
Draco dramatically gasped as if he was being accused of murder, he then put a hand over his heart and then started rambling. "She isn't just any girl. She's the most perfect witch to ever exist! Gosh, do you guys even see how beautiful and smart and—" but, before he could continue, he was cut off by Blaise.
"We get it mate! You're bewitched by her." Blaise groaned loudly, throwing his head back and resting it on the backrest of the couch.
Theo sighed, "Mate, look," he said sternly, leaning forward, resting his elbows on his knees. "You just have to ask her a simple eleven word question, 'Would. you. like. to. go. to. the. Yule. Ball. with. me.?' see? Easier than brewing Felix Felicis!"
Draco was suddenly hot and started to fidget with his fingers all because of that eleven word question. "Easy for you to say, Theo. You don't have a big fat crush o—" he was cut off yet again. This time, by Pansy.
"Alright, Malfoy. We're done," she announced, crossing her arms. "Either you tell her—or we will!" Pansy smirked, now putting her hands on her hips, trying to hide her laugh as she stood up. The two boys beside her started snickering as they followed Pansy towards the dormitories, leaving Draco in a very difficult position.
Theo suddenly stopped in front of Draco, "You better ask her soon or you know what's coming." He teased, then continued to follow Blaise and Pansy.
"Wait! I'll do it!" He stammered, his hand reaching out, a hopeless attempt to let them stay. "But—uh—is 'You looked like a powdered donut and still managed to be gorgeous.' a good compliment? Because the potion she was brewing blew up last week."
All he got in reply was loud groans and sighs as three of his friends continued walking away from him.
"Guys?!"
Silence.
Draco sighed as he looked down at his feet. "Hey! You looked like a powdered donut and still managed to be gorgeous." He quietly muttered to himself.
⸻
The next day, Draco's heart felt like it was going to come out of his chest and his feet felt like rubber as he saw you strolling through the library. This was it. This was the day he's going to ask you the eleven word question.
Naturally, he brought backup—just in case of a stutter, a horrible nosebleed, or, Merlin forbid, passing out. He had to full-on beg them to come with him, since, in Pansy's own words:
“How are you even going to dance with her if you need us just to ask her to the ball? What—are we going to do a group dance in case you pass out?”
She may be right...
But he badly needed emotional support or he'll die of a heart attack before he could even talk to you.
"Alright. I'm going to go up to her, compliment her pretty face, ask her the question, and hope for the best." He whispered, his grip tightening on the stem of your favorite flower.
The four of them were currently formed in a circle at the corner of the library, three pairs of eyes staring at the blonde boy as he told them his plan.
Theo gave him a flat look, unimpressed. “That’s the plan? That’s it?”
“Well, do you have a better one?” Draco snapped, slightly louder than he intended, which earned them all a sharp shhh! from Madam Pince across the room. They all winced and lowered their heads like scolded toddlers.
Blaise leaned in, voice a murmur. “Yes. Literally anything other than blurting out powdered donut compliments in the library.” He rubbed his temples. “Just… try not to be weird, mate.”
“I’m not weird,” Draco muttered, offended.
“Yeah?” Pansy raised a brow. “You practiced your line in the mirror seven times this morning and then gave the flower a pep talk.”
Draco blushed furiously. “It’s her favorite flower. It needs to be… emotionally prepared.”
Theo shook his head, muttering, “We’re emotionally exhausted.”
Still, despite their teasing, the trio gave him nods of encouragement as he squared his shoulders, tucked the flower carefully behind his back, and began the slow, risky walk toward where you sat—cross-legged on the carpet between two shelves, surrounded by a sea of books and parchment, humming softly to yourself as you scribbled into your notes.
He froze halfway.
You were chewing on the end of your quill, a bit of ink on your chin, your eyes narrowed in concentration. You wore a flower crown made of daises again today—different colors if he may add—the yellows, oranges, and whites complimenting your face. Draco thought he might pass out on the spot.
'Gosh how can she be so beautiful while doing nothing.'
"GO!" Pansy whisper yelled as she pushed Draco toward you.
"Wait n—" he stumbled toward you. He was begging his feet to go back to his safe cocoon where he wouldn't get humiliated or possibly pass out, but they were stuck on the ground—unable to move.
"Hey!" he gulped, his cheeks rapidly turning red for being flustered but mostly from embarrassment.
You glanced up at the sudden noise and there he was. He looked... hot.
HOT! as in sweating hot—not the kind of hot where his hair was pushed back after a shower in the quidditch lockers and definitely not the time when—
Stop it!
“Oh! Hello, Draco." You said, offering him a warm smile as you stood, brushing the creases from your skirt to face him properly.
He smiled back—but it wasn’t the kind of smile most people gave. It was lopsided, almost shaky, like it couldn’t decide whether it wanted to be confident or terrified. His hands fidgeted behind his back, and then—
"ELEVENWORDQUESTION!" he blurted.
You blinked. “I’m sorry—what?”
Draco swallowed hard, his cheeks rapidly turning pink. “What I meant to say is… you look like a powdered donut.”
What.
The.
Hell?
Your smile faltered. You looked down at your shoes, heart sinking a little. Was that… was that supposed to be an insult?
“Oh,” you murmured, suddenly self-conscious. A quiet, uncertain panic started to rise in your chest.
“No, no, no, wait—!” Draco rushed forward, eyes wide. He reached out and placed his hands gently on your shoulders, his voice frantic now. “That came out wrong. I mean—you looked like a powdered donut last week—when the potion exploded—and you still looked… you still looked gorgeous.”
You looked up at him, stunned.
He took a breath, then, with trembling fingers, pulled a flower from behind his back. Your flower. The one he’d somehow remembered you loved.
“Would you like to go to the Yule Ball with me?” he asked, quieter now—earnest, vulnerable, the chaos gone from his voice.
And that was when everything seemed to stand still. You stare at him, your mouth agape. You could feel blood rushing through your cheeks.
And then… from behind the nearest shelf came the unmistakable sound of stifled laughter.
You glanced past Draco and saw them—Pansy, Blaise, Theo—all doubled over, failing miserably at hiding. Pansy wiped a tear from her eye. Blaise was wheezing. And Theo was clutching his stomach, trying to breathe.
Oh.
Of course.
It was a dare. A prank. A joke at your expense.
The flower in Draco’s hand suddenly felt like a knife.
Your chest clenched. You took a step back.
“I’m sorry, Draco,” you said, forcing your voice to stay steady even as your throat tightened. “I… I have to say no.”
His face crumpled in confusion as you turned away, blinking back tears you refused to let fall—not here, not in front of them.
Not when your heart had almost believed him.
⸻
“Mate,” Blaise had said later, tentatively, from the foot of Draco’s bed, where Draco had buried himself under his emerald blanket like a disgraced ghost. “She didn’t even see the part where you were being sincere.”
“She saw enough,” Draco mumbled.
Pansy kicked his mattress. “She saw us laughing, you dolt. She thinks we were laughing at her. Do you know what that does to a girl?” she added sharply, voice rising with frustration and—Draco noticed—genuine guilt. “You’ve got less than a week till the Yule Ball, and if you want any chance of fixing this, you better stop acting like a sad house-elf and do something.”
Draco’s next plan of action was, to put it bluntly, disastrous.
If he couldn’t speak to you like a normal person, then maybe he could… gesture grandly instead. Show, not tell, right?
Wrong. So very wrong.
It began with him walking—strutting—past your table in the courtyard three times in one lunch period, each time pretending he just happened to be passing by. The first time, he loudly commented to Blaise about how some people had “really excellent taste in flower crowns.” The second time, he tripped on a root and faceplanted into a bush. The third time, he tried to recover by dramatically pulling out a textbook and reading upside down while sneakily peeking at you over the pages.
You didn’t look up once.
“Subtle,” Blaise had deadpanned as he helped pick leaves out of Draco’s hair.
Then came the grand gestures. One morning, you opened your Transfiguration book and found—inside it—a single, freshly pressed forget-me-not. The ink on the page was slightly smudged as if someone had fumbled it with nervous fingers. Tucked next to the flower was a piece of parchment with a single line in jagged, uptight handwriting:
I never forgot. - D
The next day? A little paper crane fluttered down onto your lap during Charms. No one else noticed—except you. It unfolded itself midair to reveal another message:
I’d say something. But every time I try, I ruin it.
He was trying. You could feel it, in all his awkward, dramatic glory.
Then, during Care of Magical Creatures, he nearly sacrificed himself trying to separate you from a cranky Murtlap. You didn’t even ask for help, but there he was, sprinting across the paddock like a knight in shining robes, yelling, “DON’T WORRY, I’VE GOT IT!” before the Murtlap turned and promptly bit his wrist.
You rushed forward instinctively, wand already out, muttering a healing charm with a furrow in your brow. And Draco… Draco smiled like he’d just been kissed.
“You didn’t have to do that,” you said, half-annoyed, half-worried, as he flexed his hand and hissed.
“Worth it,” he said, eyes locked on you.
That night, you found another note tucked into the folds of your Herbology textbook:
Still an idiot. Still hoping. Still not giving up.
You rolled your eyes.
But you smiled.
⸻
It wasn’t until three days before the ball that he finally had a chance to explain.
You were walking back from dinner, your hands tucked into your robes, eyes on the frost glittering across the windows, when you heard it:
“Wait—please.”
Draco’s voice. Real. Sincere. Clear.
You turned, surprised to see him without backup, no Pansy whispering strategies in his ear, no Blaise with the emergency escape plan, no Theo who can tease him to no end.
Just Draco.
Alone.
Face flushed from the cold—or nerves. Maybe both.
You folded your arms. “Going to call me a pastry again?”
He winced. “Gods, no. Never again.” A beat passed. Then: “Well, unless you start working at Honeydukes. Then maybe once. Or twice.”
You didn’t laugh. But the corner of your mouth twitched.
He took that as a good sign.
“I know what you thought,” Draco said, stepping forward. “When they laughed. You thought it was a joke. That I was making fun of you.” His eyes were painfully honest, gray and glinting like wet stone. “But they weren’t laughing at you. They were laughing at me.”
You blinked. “Why?”
“Because I’d been practicing that line since breakfast. Because I’d stammered like an idiot and spilled ink on my cuff and given a flower a motivational speech. Because I was absolutely pathetic. For you.” He let out a nervous huff.
“You make me stupid.”
Your heart did a little leap.
Draco stepped closer. “And you know what? I don’t care if I look stupid. I’d rather look stupid in front of the entire school than let you go to the Yule Ball without knowing the truth.”
There was a long, breathless pause.
“I like you. I’ve liked you since the first time you made that little dandelion braid and stuck it in your scroll instead of using a bookmark. I like how you hum to yourself when you’re thinking. I like that you stay up after curfew just to stargaze and name constellations like they’re your personal pets. I like that you make everything around you feel… lighter.”
He stepped closer again, now inches from you.
“And if you’ll let me… I want to make you feel that way too.”
Your lips parted, but no sound came out. For once, you were the one struck speechless.
Draco reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a a bouquet of your favorite flower. Blooming. Vibrant. Alive.
“I grew this,” he said quietly. “Chose the seed, studied the soil, made sure it got the exact right light. It took weeks. But it’s yours.”
He gently held it out.
You stared at the flower. Then up at him.
Finally, your voice found its way back.
“…You didn’t stutter,” you whispered.
Draco smirked. It was slow, confident—flirty.
“No. Not when it really matters.”
And then, with a wicked gleam in his eyes, he added, “So. Would you like to go to the Yule Ball with me?”
You smiled.
Not just because the flower was perfect.
Not just because his voice was steady.
But because, for the first time, it felt real. No nerves. No games. Just Draco. Asking you.
Properly.
“Yes,” you said, cheeks glowing.
His grin was immediate.
“And I expect a dance,” you added, pretending to be stern. “A real one. No passing out. No backup dancers.”
Draco leaned in just enough for you to feel the warmth of his breath.
“Only if you promise not to look like a powdered donut this time.”
You laughed—finally, laughed—and shoved his shoulder.
Summary: A jealous Draco realises his feelings for you, just as you go on a date with someone else. Happy fluffy ending, no hate to Weaselbee.
Hey!” A roasted potato flew past Y/N, narrowly missing her head. She hurried over to the Slytherin table, where the potato had come from, in hopes of avoiding any death stares from professors.
“What the hell Greg” she sneered at Goyle, who simply shrugged before shovelling more food onto his plate.
“You can’t just throw food across the great hall like that” she chided, taking a seat on the bench.
“Yeah didn’t you ever learn dining etiquette” Draco added, delicately wiping his mouth with a napkin.
“Didn’t you ever learn dining etiquette” Blaise mocked in an overly posh tone, earning a small smack from Draco’s balled up napkin. Y/N smirked as Draco glared at his friend.
“Dont act like you didn’t learn etiquette as well Blaise” he said, with a raise of his eyebrows.
“Yeah but I don’t say it so obnoxiously” he countered and Draco rolled his eyes in response. Y/N ate happily surrounded by her friends, laughing at Crabbe and Goyle and watching Draco and Blaise argue while Pansy chattered on about her new lipgloss. She was enjoying herself so much that she almost forgot about what had happened earlier today.
“Oh I have news” she said, her group falling silent as they all turned to look at her.
“Go on” Crabbe urged as Draco nudged her elbow beside her.
“I am going on a date” she announced proudly and Pansy squealed in delight.
“Good on you Y/L/N, didn’t know you had it in ya”
Blaise remarked, with a proud smile nonetheless.
“Who is it?” Draco asked abruptly. Y/N was silent for a moment.
“You don’t know him?” She spoke, shoving a handful of chocolate cake into her mouth to avoid speaking.
“Who!” Draco demanded, and all the others were too curious to let the moment slip away quietly. She swallowed the dessert nervously, refusing to meet the blonde boy’s insistent stare.
“Ron” she murmured, quietly enough that only the six of them would hear.
“Who?” Pansy asked in utter confusion, and Y/N had no choice but to reveal him.
“Ronald Weasley” she clarified and watched Blaise’s eyes widen in surprise from across the table.
“Whoaaa, think you can handle a Gryffindor for a whole afternoon?” He laughed but his smile quickly dropped as he caught sight of Draco.
“Why on earth would you go out with Weaselbee?” He asked indignantly.
“Cause he asked me” she said matter of factly.
“Wha- it doesn’t matter he’s still a Weasley” Draco seethed looking at her in disgust.
“Oh come on Draco, he’s a perfectly normal guy-“
He’s probably only going out with you to get in your pants!” He yelled. Y/N was outraged.
“What?!”
“Yeah he’s probably only doing it for a hookup, why else would he be with you?” Draco continued but realised his mistake too late.
Y/N’s nostrils flared as she fought the urge to slap him in the middle of the great hall. How could one of her closest friends say something so awful about her? Taking a deep breath she stood up in a huff.
“You are an absolute arse Malfoy, and I’d rather spend time with Ron, someone who actually values me as a person, than a dipshit like you” she fumed, storming out of the great hall. Pansy ran off after her while Blaise chuckled at Draco’s clenched fists. He turned back to him with a look that could kill, only making Blaise laugh harder.
“Care to explain what’s so hilarious” Draco hissed, stabbing his food angrily.
“You’re just a real tosser when you’re jealous” Blaise said, and Draco looked at him, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
“What?” He asked sharply. Luckily Blaise had learnt how to deal with an upset Draco.
“You’re jealous” He said slowly, enunciating every letter in a condescending manner.
“I’m going to stab you with this fork” Draco growled.
“Why are you upset that Y/N’s going out with Weasley?” He asked pointedly.
“Cause he’s a stupid, and a weirdo Y/N can do way better” he answered bitterly.
“Or is it cause you want Y/N to be with you?” He said with a smirk.
“No” he answered quickly. And Blaise looked at him with eyes that said think again. Draco thought to himself for a moment, about your fiery independence and gentle kindness, the way you understood him but weren’t afraid to annoy him. And with a sinking feeling he realised Blaise was right. When he looked back at his friend, Blaise was staring at him as if he already knew, as if he had watched the realisation grow on Draco’s face.
“You suck” Draco muttered and Blaise simpered victoriously.
Y/N adjusted her dress so it sat smoothly on her body, with no creases and looked herself up and down in the mirror. She wrapped her scarf around her neck and zipped up her boots excitedly, doing one last check of her hair.
“What do you think?” She asked Pansy who was lazily perched on her bed watching her.
“You look great, cosy but cute” she said with a supportive smile. She hopped up, straightening the back of Y/N’s scarf before walking her down the stairs arm in arm. They entered the Slytherin common room, passing the boys before they headed out the door.
“Someone’s excited” Blaise commented as he watched the girls giggle to each other. Crabbe and Goyle smiled and nodded in response but didn’t say anything, in fear of further upsetting Draco who sat beside them sulking. He was sunken into the couch, arms crossed over his chest like a pouty toddler.
“Draco… what do you think?” Y/N said doing a small twirl to show off her carefully chosen outfit.
“Looks nice” He replied coldly. She sighed softly but refused to let his sour mood ruin her day. She grabbed Pansy’s hand tugging her out the door, and toward the courtyard where she would meet Ron for their romantic date in Hogsmeade.
A while later the rest of the Slytherin boys bundled up and left for Hogsmeade too, that is all but Draco who had decided to spend the entire day wallowing in his jealousy.

A few hours later the common room door slammed open, shocking Draco out of his daze. He peeked over the arm of the leather couch he was slouched on to see the last person he expected to be there.
After shutting the door, Y/N pressed her back against it, letting herself fall to her knees. Tears flowed in an endless stream down her reddened cheeks, she choked out a sob, finally allowing herself to breathe.
Draco found himself moving of his own accord, being drawn toward a small Y/N, curled up on the floor. He bent down in front of her, trying to get a glimpse of her face that was buried in her hands.
“What happened?” He asked, voice riddled with worry.
“You were right” she cried, moving her hands just enough for him to hear her speak.
“I mean sort've" she mumbled sadly.
“He was just using me for his divination assignment. He started asking me about it and I got so excited cause you know I love divination and I just rambled on and-” she had to stop to take a breath as Draco rubbed her back comfortingly.
“I’m so stupid I should’ve realised he was just using me for answers but I didn’t for like more than an hour and I- I’m just so stupid” she sobbed, tears returning to her eyes.
Draco enveloped her in his arms, tucking her head the crook of his neck and holding her close. His blood boiled at the very thought of Ron being so thoughtless but he forced it down, as right now, making sure Y/N was okay was his number one priority. Eventually her heartbreaking cry quietened to soft whimpers, and her grip on his sweater grew less tight.
“I’m sorry I ruined your sweater” she hiccuped, nodding to the dark green blotch that had formed on Draco’s shoulder. He waved it off and stood up with his hands in hers, leading her over to the couch. He let her settle down and covered her with one of the blankets that sat draped over the couch’s arm. He surveyed her face carefully, examining the dried tear streaks and her tired expression.
“Did you really like him enough to warrant this much…” he hesitantly gestured to her, subtly questioning whether Weasley was really worth her tears.
“No” she sighed, slumping against his shoulder dejectedly.
Draco didn’t press her, letting her answer his unasked question in her own time.
“I was just wanted someone to like me” she admitted, embarrassed.
“I know it’s selfish but I guess I was just excited that someone saw me in that way. No one really thinks of me like that, you know” she murmured in embarrassment, eyes focused on her fingers that were tracing the creases on the couch. Draco covered her hands lightly, enclosing her fist in his own. As his thumb stroked up and down her skin he looked at her, baffled.
“You can’t really think that?” He said and Y/N met his eyes that stared deeply into hers.
“You are stunning. You’re beautiful and intelligent and sweet and-” He took a strained breath.
“There isn’t a man on this earth that deserves you” he said under his breath, as he watched her eyes widen and then soften.
“Am I talking to the same Draco who insults me on a daily basis?” She said with a small chuckle. It was a relief to see a smile on her face again. “Just cause you annoy me to the ends of the earth doesn’t mean I don’t think you’re wonderful. And that you deserve a good guy, one who actually cares about you and not just your knowledge of divination” he said.
“Even though your divination skills are pretty impressive” he added earning another small smile.
“What if I never find one who wants me” she whispered in fear, looking up at him worriedly.
“You will”
Even in her saddened state she was gorgeous, cheeks a little redder, eyes still glittering, Draco felt himself being drawn to her. She was magnetic, she was everything, he thought, flabbergasted that she thought she wouldn’t find a guy, when in reality, any man that really knew her would line up for her, with him at the front of the line.
“I want you” the words slipped out of his mouth before he could stop them, distracted by his short daydream, he stopped, waiting to see if she had heard.
“Sorry?” She asked, eyebrows raising in surprise.
He stuttered and stumbled for a momen, completely forgetting that he held the Malfoy name.
“You said no guy would ever want you but… I want you… as more than a friend” he admitted, he was met with only a shocked expression from Y/N, whose jaw had dropped.
“I want you to be my girlfriend” he choked out, and suddenly got nervous at the way his hands were intertwined with her.
“I’m not trying to take advantage of you or anything!” He exclaimed, quickly realising the optics.
“Honestly, I think I’ve always felt this way, or felt this way for a long time” he murmured.
“I only realised it cause Blaise pointed out I was jealous when Weaselbee asked you out” he explained. A smug smile crept onto Y/N’s face.
“You were jealous?” Draco could practically hear the conceit in her voice.
“So that’s why you were acting like such an idiot” she commented and Draco groaned in response.
“You’re lucky you’re my idiot” she said softly, reaching up to place a chaste kiss on his cheek. At her touch a pink hue rose all over his face, even up to the tip of his ears.
“Does that mean yes?” He asked, recovering his usual smoothness.
“Mmm I guess so” she said, feigning a cool tone, but her eyes showed Draco her true happiness.
“Good” he replied, pulling her closer to him and pressing her head to shoulder firmly but carefully.
“Cause thinking of you with anyone else made me want to throw up” he said, eliciting a giggle from Y/N.
Can you do one where draco catches the reader trying to pleasure thereself and it isn't working very well so he helps? Please
when presented with a night all to yourself, all your roommates gone on holiday, you decided on a bit of much-needed self care.
anticipation made your fingers twitch as you hurried back to your room after finishing the day’s commitments, excited to finally have some alone time.
your clothes were shed quickly, tossed halfhazardly into a basket at the end of the bed, unwilling to take the time to hang them back up and line your shoes up beside the door.
without any hesitation, you sank down onto the bed, on top of the dark green comforter. it was smooth against your bare skin, cool from being untouched all day — sending chills down your arms and legs.
your eyes fell closed as you rested back against the pillows, exhaling the stress of the day. your fingers drifted downward, slowly trailing along your sternum and the curve of your belly, down between your thighs.
you were already wet from an entire day of anticipation, knowing this is what you’d come home to. your fingertips delicately slipped between drenched folds, touching the soft, velvety skin. your other hand rose to your chest, playing with your nipples, rolling and tugging until you were practically grinding into your own palm. the throbbing soreness was briefly soothed as your fingers pressed inside, curling forward. it only took a few moments before the ache was back, your fingers not quite reaching deep enough to satisfy the anxious buzz in your body. you tried to relax, ignoring the rising frustration. you needed to get off, but your body refused to cooperate and it only became more difficult as you grew more stressed.
“hey, I was— oh.”
you’d sworn you locked the door, but there stood draco malfoy, staring with his jaw open at your naked form, fingers buried in your sopping cunt.
“shut the door!” you hissed, horrified as he closed it behind him, staying in the room with you instead of sodding off to mind his own business.
“draco, get the hell—”
“do you need some help?” he questioned, biting his lip as his pants grew tighter. his eyes were dark as they took in the sight of you, angelic and unholy all at once.
you slowly nodded, giving into your own desperation, helpless on your own. his bag dropped off his shoulder as he made his way around to the side of the bed, slipping in behind you. you allowed draco to manhandle you between his legs, your naked back resting against his chest, wrinkling his perfect white button down.
“just relax, princess,” he purred into your hair, prying your legs open and draping them over his.
you hadn’t even realized you’d closed your legs — shy before the classmate you’d always fancied. your head was spinning now, lying naked on top of him, your mind scrambling to catch up with reality as he kissed your neck and gently groped your breasts, sending sharp shocks down to the base of your belly.
“oh.”
the soft moan that fell from your lips was involuntary, a primal reaction to the feeling of his fingertips finding your clit, warming you from the inside out. you felt him smile against the underside of your jaw, pleased with himself for pulling such filthy noises from you.
“that feel good? answer me.”
“y-yes, draco,” you whined, arching your back off of him as his fingers pumped in and out of you, the other hand still drawing circles on your clit.
“I can feel you squeezing me, go ahead and let go,” he encouraged, curling his fingers forward into your g-spot.
your back arched his chest and you drew your knees up as you came hard, a thousand tiny explosions going off in your body. you trapped draco’s hand between your legs, every muscle tensing as he cradled you, slowly stroking you through the waves of your orgasm.
he smiled when you collapsed against him, out of breath and muscles weak. a wave of his wand cleaned up the impressive mess you’d made at the mercy of his touch. you basked in the relief that you’d craved all day, struggling to stay awake in his arms. he pulled a blanket over you, settling down, letting you get the rest you needed.
Draco Malfoy doesn't look at you in the corridors. Not when Pansy sneers. Not when Goyle shoves you against the wall. But late at night, behind the tall bookshelf where the fire burns low, he waits. He’s cruel to the world — soft only for you. And in the dark, where no one else can see, he lets you hold the part of him he hides from everyone else.
Draco Malfoy x reader
He didn’t look at you in the corridor.
Not when Goyle knocked into you on purpose, your shoulder slamming the stone wall hard enough to bruise. Not when Pansy snickered loud enough for the whole group to hear. Not when your books hit the floor, papers scattering across the stone — and Draco kept walking.
Eyes ahead. Hands in his pockets. Like he hadn’t seen. Like you were no one.
But hours later — when the common room was quiet and cold, and most of the castle had slipped into sleep — he waited.
You found him in the far corner of the Slytherin common room, hidden in shadow behind the bookcase, where the emerald firelight barely reached. He sat slouched on the velvet sofa, elbows on his knees, head low like he hadn’t stopped thinking since he walked away.
Your footsteps were soft on the rug. You didn’t ask if it was okay to sit beside him. He never asked if it was okay to wait.
You sat in silence for a moment. The kind that wasn’t heavy — just thick. Full of all the things neither of you could say in daylight.
His shoulder brushed yours when he finally spoke. Quiet. Careful.
“Did they hurt you?”
You swallowed.
You hadn’t expected him to ask. Not tonight. Not after how cold he’d been — not after letting Goyle shove you against the wall like you were nothing.
“Not really,” you lied.
Draco didn’t look at you, but his hands curled into fists in his lap. He was still wearing his uniform. The tie was undone, hanging loose around his collar. His white shirt was wrinkled, sleeves shoved up like he’d paced the room for hours.
His jaw clenched. His eyes flicked up, meeting yours for the first time that night. They were pale, stormy — the kind of grey that never softened, not unless he was looking at you like this.
“You know why,” he said.
Because he couldn’t be seen caring. Not about you. Not when his world was made of glass and secrets and knives.
But you weren’t asking for him to fight in front of them. You just needed him to see you.
“I can handle Goyle,” you said. “What I can’t handle is you pretending I don’t exist.”
His breath hitched. Barely. But you felt it.
“I don’t want them to use you,” he said quietly. “If they knew— if they thought—”
“I know what they’d do,” you said. “But I’m not afraid of them.”
“I am.”
It came out like a confession. Like he hated himself for saying it.
“I’m afraid of what they’ll do to you,” he continued. “Of what they’ll do to me, if they think I’ve got something to lose.”
Your hand reached for his. He didn’t stop you.
You laced your fingers with his, and the way he exhaled — slow, shaking, like he’d been holding his breath since dinner — made your chest ache.
His thumb brushed over your knuckles. He was always so careful with you, in moments like this. Like his entire world was made of stone and you were the one soft thing he didn’t know how to hold without breaking it.
You leaned in, voice barely a whisper.
“Then lose me.”
He flinched.
“Tell me this doesn’t mean anything,” you said, “and I’ll walk away. Right now.”
Draco turned to you fully. His face was tight, eyes flickering over your features like he was trying to memorise you. His hand tightened around yours.
“You know I can’t.”
“Then show me.”
His breath caught. And then he leaned in, forehead pressing to yours, the rest of the world fading away with the silence between you.
“I think about you all the time,” he whispered. “In class. In the corridor. When I’m meant to be focusing on anything else.”
You closed your eyes. “Then why hide it?”
“Because the second they know I care about something, they’ll try to rip it from me.”
“I’m not a thing,” you said softly. “I’m a person. I love you, Draco.”
His breath hitched. His hand curled behind your neck, fingers threading into your hair. He didn’t kiss you — not yet — but he held you there like he might fall apart if he let go.
“I love you too,” he whispered. “More than I should. More than I can afford to.”
You let him hold you. Let him unravel slowly, one breath at a time.
Because this — this soft, terrified, bruised boy — was yours. Even if the world never saw it.

The first time Draco told his girlfriend he loved her, she cried.
If there had been any witnesses, they would have cracked up at the Slytherin prince’s panicked face. Out of all the ways Draco thought you might react, crying was not present. Sure he had caused a few fan girls here and there to shed tears when he rejected them, but they didn’t mean anything to him.
Not like you
He never really had any experience comforting someone. His family was cold and showed little to no emotion. His friends didn’t really have a reason to shed tears like this.
So what was he supposed to do with his sobbing girlfriend in front of him? His lover?
And if your eyes weren’t blurry with the tears, you would have seen the priceless look on Draco’s face. His eyes wide in shock and panic as his hands awkwardly moved around him in order to comfort you. If you had seen, you would have most definitely stopped crying in order to laugh at the Malfoy’s expression-—because honestly, who’s ever seen a shocked and panicked Malfoy before?
But, you had a good reason to be crying at Draco’s confession. You both had been dating for three years, and before that, dancing around a blurred line of lovers and friends for a year—so four years.
Four years and not once did Draco ever say “I love you”
Not when you both were going to sleep, during lessons, sitting next to each other in the Great Hall. Not when you went hand in hand to Hogsmeade, cheeks rosy from the cold as you huddled closer to him to get some warmth. Not during Slytherin parties after Quidditch games where Draco had once again brought his team to victory, but stood next to you the whole time instead of his team. Not when you were slow dancing until midnight during the Yule ball, falling into the depths of each other eyes. Not when you would whisper “I love you” into your kiss after he endured his meetings either with his Father or the Dark Lord. Not during hot passionate moments in his private dorm— prefect privileges — limbs tangled with each other as you both reached your high.
Not once
While at first you thought that the problem was yourself, you knew deep down that Draco just simply didn’t say the three words. And if he did, he would say it in his own time. You knew it when you whispered them so easily to him, and he would either get a lost expression on his face or pull you in a heated kiss.
It didn’t really bother you that much. But you still longed to hear them.
The thing was, Draco had always been attracted to you. He knew that. Knew that when you would visit his house over the summer. Both of your parents inside the manor as you wandered around the house hand in hand.
You both knew.
Yet he couldn’t confirm it.
It wasn’t like Draco had never said them to anyone before. He loved his family, his parents. Said ‘I love you’ to his mother as a child and the next thing he knew her life was being threatened by Voldemort.
His father ended up in Akzaban and he realized how much he loved him.
Everything he ever loved was snatched away from him in some way or form. Perhaps maybe at first it could have been that it was too early in the relationship, but now, Draco just wanted to protect you. He didn’t want the Dark Lord to find out about you—use you as his ‘weakness’.
Didn’t want to lose you too.
And if by not confirming it, maybe you would stay longer with him. Always there for him, with him. But he also knew, that by not saying anything, he was hurting you more. You needed it just as much as he needed you.
It was over something stupid that made Draco realize he loved you.
Well, maybe not stupid, but it made him realize all the minuscule things that you did that made him love you.
Draco had been in an angry— more so than normal— mood one night. The Dark Lord was breathing down his neck, watching his every move. The vanishing cabinet showed no signs of fixing. His family’s lives were in his hands.
Ofcourse you also knew this, as part of the sacred 28 and close with the Malfoy’s, your family was also forced to comply to the Dark Lord’s wishes. Your parents tried their best to avoid it, but in the end, they could only save you from the dark path— a privilege Draco couldn’t get.
So it was to no surprise when Draco came back into their his dorm detached and distant from reality— from you.
They went to sleep that night with Draco’s back facing you — a great contrast to the usual position you spooned under him — but you slept with her forehead pressed between his shoulder blades, a silent but firm comfort.
He woke up the next morning, sore and cold. Throwing an arm out while rolling on his back, he was dejected at the feeling of your side of the bed empty. Your body heat had long left the sheets. The fact that you weren’t there when he woke up only made his mood fouler. Where were you?
With a yawn, he pulled himself up on the bed and set at the edge, running his hands down his face and through his hair with a weary sigh. Muscles flexed as he stretched to get the sleep out of his body, his upper torso bare.
Click
The sound of the door opening had him stopping his actions to look at you walking in, balancing two plates with two additional goblets levitating behind you. Your tongue poked out in concentration as you used your wand to settle the drinks down onto the table, following with the plates. You turned around and jumped back in surprise upon seeing him, “Bloody hell- I didn’t notice you were awake!”
Quickly picking up the two full plates up again, you quickly walked towards him still on the bed. Pressing a soft kiss to his forehead, you whispered “Morning Dray.”
“I know it’s the weekend so I let you sleep in and got food for us from the house elves”, you rambled all while Draco kept staring at you. The warm aroma of breakfast hit him as if confirming that you had rushed down and came back up just for him.
Unperturbed, you started setting up the food to best of your ability onto to the bed, making sure that nothing would spill and ruin the pristine sheets.
“It was kind of late for breakfast, so I had to improvise,” you chuckled as you forced the utensils into his hand and hung your robe onto the chair.
Draco watched as you made yourself comfortable next to him, your body heat warming him once again. He glanced down at his plate, only now realizing the contents of the plate and what your words meant.
He stared some more.
It wasn’t common for his breakfast to be staring back up at him, but something about the pancake with the butter and blueberry eyes and the bacon smile made him crack.
“Love,” he muttered out suddenly just as you grabbed your eating utensils. You didn't bother looking up as you started cutting out a piece of your pancake.
Because the thing was, you always did little things for Draco. Like last night, your simple actions of support was comfort enough. And when you knew he was having a tough day, massaging his shoulders to relieve the tension or brewing him some warm tea.
“Love” he repeated more loudly, still not touching his food.
When Draco needed it— when he was frustrated and needed to spew out his anger — you would let him ramble on even if it meant sacrificing your own time. When he had nightmares at night and woke up sobbing— you were there to hold him in your arms, whispering sweet nothings into his ear until he calmed down. When all needed was space, you would give him the space, but still squeeze his hands between classes to show you were there.
“Hmm?” you hummed out, staring quizzically at him with your fork raised halfway to your mouth.
When Draco come back to the dorm late at night, you would still be awake giving him a soft peck on the lips and wrap your arms around him. He would see the tiredness in your eyes, but you would always find a way to make him come first. He would say, “I’m back,” and you would reply with “Welcome back, ferret”, already making him forget all his problems.
“Draco, what-”
“I love you.”
The fork slipped from your grasp and dropped softly onto the bed, staining the spot with syrup and butter but both of you paid it no heed.
You always told stupid jokes. Always smiled. Always brought joy into his life. He might not admit it, but could never spend a day without thinking about you and what you were doing. You were always on his mind, no matter how or what he was doing. You and your bed head in the morning, as you rushed to class. Your loud snores and your body wrapped around him like a koala at night. Your sneezes which were always back to back. Your stupid names for him going from ferret to ickle-Drakey-Wakey- something he still despised his mom for sharing. Your…
Draco realized that you still hadn't said anything. Dread was starting to creep up his spine as you just sat there, staring at him in shock.
And then…you cried.
Dread turned to panic as Draco turned around in his spot to face you.
“Darling?” His arms awkwardly fumbled around you for a while until they settled onto your shoulders to ground you. You were crying incoherent words as tears never ending tears fell down from your eyes.
“You- you, ” you started blubbering in between tears. He fell back a little in surprise as you slammed into him, his arms full of his sobbing girlfriend, your hair tickling his chin. Continuing to cry into his neck, ”You- I didn’t think- I thought- always needed- bloody Merlin- you bald elsa- you - you- I hate you-”
Something in you burst to the point that you couldn't stop crying. You always wanted him to say those words to you. And now that he did, it struck a cord in you that started waterworks. It wasn’t that you were sad, you were far far from it.
You were just so so happy.
Being the emotionally cold person he was, Draco couldn’t figure out why his liver was saying he hated him while clinging to him tighter and tighter with each second.
You pulled away from him to look up at Draco. For the first time, there was panic inside the grey eyes. You laughed at this worried expression, making Draco more confused than ever.
“Dray…” You finally said after managing to finally calm down. Bringing up your palms, you held Drac’s face gently in your hands, “I’ve waited four years for you to tell me that.”
Panic gave way to guilt you continued to smile, your eyes bright with understanding.
“I love you too, idiot,” You tapped his nose with yours and leaned in to kiss him.
And then there was relief and contentedness.
It didn’t last long though. You started yelling at him about the stains on the sheets, and how you had just washed them, and how he could have been more romantic about it and not when you had a literal bedhead and he was half naked, but Draco merely smiled at you through the lecture and beating.
— he’s not completely open about himself or affectionate but you can tell he’s holding back, but a few months after you prove you’re not going anywhere he’ll open up and trust you more.
— lots of random surprise hugs from behind where he just envelops you into his rich cologne scents.
— he loves seeing you at his games in his quidditch jersey, it gives him so much more confidence and makes him so happy.
— sometimes he’s a little distant when he’s jealous, but with you reassuring him he feels much better.
— he adores seeing you in his rings and when you play with them as he holds your hand.

Part 1 Part 2 masterlist of the story
He stood in the shadows, his gaze fixated on her. (Y/N). The name itself was a melody, a song that had etched itself into his bones long ago. His (Y/N), stolen by Draco Malfoy, of all people.
His fingers curled into fists as he watched them. Draco, with his easy arrogance, his touch lingering on her wrist, his quiet laughter as she leaned into him. She looked happy. Cassius wanted to rip that happiness away from her—no, not from her, from him. Draco didn’t deserve her.
“He doesn’t know what to do with her. But I do.”
He had spent countless nights imagining what it would be like to have her, to hold her in his arms, to hear her whisper his name in the dead of night. She should have been mine. But she had chosen Draco. And that choice had been Cassius’s undoing.
His jaw clenched as he heard her laughter ring through the cold air. It was unbearable, the sight of them. He had never wanted anything—anyone—the way he wanted her. And he had never lost before.
But Draco had taken what was his.
“Not for long.”
Cassius turned away, slipping back into the darkness, his mind already working. He knew what needed to be done. He had played nice for too long, thinking she would come to her senses. But love needed a push. Love needed guidance.
“She will love me. I’ll make sure of it.”
And so, the plan formed. A love potion.
Not some cheap, poorly brewed concoction—no, this would be perfect. A potion that would make her see him the way he saw her. She would forget Draco, forget everything. She would love him the way he deserved to be loved.
He could already picture it: the way she would look at him, the way she would belong to him.
He could fix this.
Draco sat in the Great Hall, staring at nothing. The whispers were everywhere. She left him. (Y/N) (Y/L/N) had broken up with him.
He didn’t understand.
One day, she was his—kissing him, touching him, laughing with him. And the next, she was standing in front of him, cold and distant, saying, “I don’t love you anymore.”
It didn’t make sense.
She did love him. He knew she did.
But she had walked away. And worse, she had walked straight to him.
Cassius.
Every time Draco saw them together, he felt like he couldn’t breathe. It was wrong. Something was wrong. (Y/N) didn’t look happy. She smiled, but it wasn’t her smile. She spoke, but there was something hollow behind her words.
And Cassius? Cassius looked like he had won.
Draco’s stomach churned with something dangerous, something furious.
So, he did what he knew best. He went back to his old ways.
The Slytherin Prince. The playboy. The heartbreaker.
He found himself in the arms of other girls, but it didn’t work. He kissed them, touched them, but every time he closed his eyes, all he could see was her.
“Fuck.”
He couldn’t do it.
He couldn’t move on.
Draco saw them together again, and something inside him snapped.
Cassius had his hand on the small of (Y/N)’s back, guiding her through the corridor like she was his.
She’s not his.
Draco stepped forward before he even realized what he was doing.
“ (Y/L/N),” he called, his voice sharp.
(Y/N) turned, and for a second—just a second—there was something in her eyes. A flicker of recognition. A flicker of her.
Draco’s heart pounded.
“Let’s go, love,” Cassius said, his grip tightening.
Draco saw red.
Cassius smirked at him. He knew.
Draco clenched his jaw. He couldn’t do this here. Not now.
But soon.
Very, very soon.
Hermione Granger had seen Draco Malfoy break a hundred different ways.
She had seen him arrogant, cruel, reckless. But she had never seen him broken.
She found him sitting alone, hands clenched in his hair.
“You look like shit,” she said, sitting down beside him.
Draco scoffed. “Thanks, Granger. Just what I needed to hear.”
She studied him.
“You still love her.”
Draco didn’t answer.
“You should talk to Snape.”
He finally looked at her, and for the first time, he didn’t have a snarky remark. He just looked tired.
Hermione reached into her bag and pulled out a vial.
“Something’s wrong with her,” she said quietly. “This is Veritaserum. If you think she’s been—”
She didn’t finish, but Draco understood.
He stared at the vial.
And for the first time in days, he felt like he could breathe.
Draco found Cassius in the dungeons.
He didn’t waste time with words. He punched him.
Cassius staggered back, blood dripping from his lip. Then he grinned.
“You always did have a temper, Malfoy.”
Draco’s wand was out before Cassius could blink.
“Petrificus Totalus!”
Cassius dodged, his own wand snapping up.
“Cruci—”
Draco was faster.
“Expelliarmus!”
Cassius’s wand flew from his grip, but he didn’t look scared. He just laughed.
“You don’t get it, do you?” Cassius sneered. “She was never yours.”
Draco slammed him against the wall, his hand tightening around Cassius’s throat.
“You used a potion on her,” Draco hissed. “You forced her.”
Cassius only smirked. “And yet, she’s still with me.”
Draco punched him again.
Cassius staggered, his face bruised, but he was still smirking.
“You can’t win, Malfoy.”
Draco’s grip tightened. “Watch me, Avery.”
With one last, brutal punch, Cassius collapsed.
And Draco turned away, because this wasn’t over.
Not yet.
He had a girl to save.
Draco didn’t waste a second. He stormed through the castle, fists still aching from the fight. The vial of Veritaserum felt heavy in his pocket, but his heart was heavier.
He needed to find her.
When he did, it nearly shattered him all over again.
(Y/N) sat by the Black Lake, staring at the water, Cassius’s stupid scarf draped over her shoulders. But she wasn’t her.
Draco knew every inch of her expressions—the way her nose scrunched up when she was annoyed, the way her eyes sparkled when she was happy.
Right now, she was empty.
The sight made him sick.
He approached carefully, his voice softer than it had been in weeks. “ (Y/L/N).”
She turned to him, slow and distant, like she wasn’t even sure who he was.
Draco clenched his jaw. He couldn’t let himself feel right now.
“I need you to drink something.”
(Y/N) blinked at him. “Why would I—”
Draco didn’t wait. He uncorked the Veritaserum and held it out. “Please.”
Something flickered in her eyes—hesitation, maybe even fear. But she took the vial.
And she drank.
Seconds passed.
Then—
Her breath hitched. Her hand flew to her chest, fingers trembling, as her whole body shuddered. Her eyes widened in horror, confusion flooding in like a storm breaking through a dam.
And then—
She gasped.
Like she had been drowning this whole time and was finally, finally breathing again.
“Draco?”
It was just his name. Just one word.
But fuck, it wrecked him.
Because this was her.
His(Y/N).
Not some puppet under Cassius’s control.
Draco exhaled a breath he didn’t know he had been holding. “Yeah, love. It’s me.”
(Y/N)’s eyes darted around, her breaths coming out fast and shaky. “What—what’s happening? I—I don’t—”
Then she saw the scarf.
Her face paled, horror dawning across her expression.
She ripped it off like it burned her.
Draco clenched his fists. “He used a love potion on you.”
(Y/N)’s breath hitched. “What?”
Draco nodded, jaw tight. “That bastard forced you to forget about me.” His voice was sharp, but beneath it was something raw, something broken. “But you’re back now.”
Silence.
Then—
(Y/N) surged forward, crashing into him with such force that it knocked the wind out of his lungs.
Her arms wrapped around his neck, tight, like she was afraid to let go.
Draco didn’t hesitate.
He held her just as fiercely, burying his face into her hair, inhaling the scent he had missed so goddamn much.
“I’m so sorry,” she whispered. Her voice cracked, and it fucking broke him.
“Don’t.” His hands tightened around her waist, grounding her. “None of this was your fault.”
(Y/N) pulled back just enough to look at him, tears brimming in her eyes.
Draco reached up, his thumb brushing a stray tear away. “You’re mine, love. No one gets to take you away from me.”
A small, breathless laugh escaped her lips. “You sound so possessive.”
Draco smirked. “That’s because I am.”
She let out another laugh, but it was softer this time. Real.
Then—
She kissed him.
And Merlin, if he hadn’t already been in love with her, this would have done it.
It was desperate, needy, as if making up for lost time. Her fingers tangled in his hair, pulling him closer, and Draco groaned against her lips, pressing her so tight against him that there was no space left between them.
She was his again.
And he was never letting her go.
Cassius was furious.
His lip was split, his ribs ached, and worst of all—(Y/N) was gone.
Draco had stolen her back.
But Cassius wasn’t done.
He stormed through the castle, rage making his blood boil. He would find her. He would—
“Expelliarmus!”
Cassius barely had time to react before his wand was ripped from his grip.
His body slammed into the wall with a thud, magic pinning him in place.
When he looked up, his blood ran cold.
Snape.
And beside him—
Professor McGonagall.
Cassius’s breath hitched. “I—I don’t—”
Snape’s black eyes bore into him, colder than the dungeons themselves. “You used a love potion on a student, Mr. Avery.” His voice was deadly calm. “Did you truly think you would get away with it?”
Cassius opened his mouth—
“Silencio.”
He choked, unable to speak.
McGonagall stepped forward, her usual stern expression now filled with nothing but pure, utter disappointment. “You are done here, Mr. Avery.”
And just like that—
It was over.
Draco didn’t let go of her for the rest of the day.
Or the next.
Or the one after that.
(Y/N) had barely left his side since the potion had worn off, and honestly? Draco wouldn’t have it any other way.
They were in the common room now, curled up on the couch by the fire.
Draco had one arm wrapped lazily around her waist, his other hand tracing slow patterns against her skin.
“You keep touching me,” (Y/N) murmured, amusement in her voice.
Draco smirked, pulling her even closer. “Just making sure you’re real, love.”
She laughed, pressing a kiss to his jaw. “I’m real, Malfoy.”
Draco hummed. “Good. Because I’m never letting you out of my sight again.”
(Y/N) arched a brow. “Oh? Planning to keep me locked away in your dorm, then?”
Draco smirked. “Tempting.”
She rolled her eyes, but the smile on her lips was undeniable.
Draco tilted her chin up, his gaze locking with hers. “I mean it, (Y/L/N). You’re mine.”
Her smile softened. “And you’re mine, Draco Malfoy.”
Draco leaned in, capturing her lips in a slow, lingering kiss.
This time, there was no fear. No uncertainty. No outside forces pulling them apart.
This time—
They were free.
And Merlin, he loved her.

Draco perked up when he saw a head of (y/h/c) and a black and yellow tie enter the charms classroom, she was late. She was never late. You apologized profusely to Flitwick who waved his hand at you, telling you it was fine and that you could take your seat.
You plopped down beside Draco and put your head down on the dark oak table, “ Ugh,” you groaned.
Draco raised a neat pale brow but didn’t say anything until everyone began practicing the charm ,” Why were you late?” he asked pulling his wand out of his robes, “ You weren’t in the bathroom were you?”
You scoffed at his rude implication, “ No, Draco,” you said reprovingly, “ I was just late, that’s all,”
Draco looked you over and said nothing more about it.
---
It was two days later and once again you were late. Draco felt his heart sink the slightest bit, sensing something was wrong he interrogated you as soon as you entered the classroom, “ Where the hell were you this time?” he hissed quietly as they were supposed to be reading.
Your (e/c) eyes hardend and you pursed your lips, “ I was just late again, that’s all,”
“ Oh, horseshite, “ he snapped back.
You said nothing more and carried on with your assignment.
---
It was after class now and Draco watched you leave your last class, silently admiring how your hair glittered in the afternoon rays of the sun. You laughed at something a friend said and a small but genuine smile graced Draco’s face, maybe there wasn’t anything wrong.
He didn’t know (y/n) very well, they only sat by each other in Charms but he had grown quite fond of her. Draco had known who you were, you were rather popular and outgoing so most people did.
You used to annoy him horribly just because of how nice you were. He had concluded it was all fake but now he knew it to be genuine, which freaked him out more.
You didn’t seem to have a care in the world.
Later at dinner, Draco sat beside Blaise Zabini who was taking sips of pumpkin juice while reading the evening prophet, “ Zabini?” he asked.
The handsome boy merely hummed in acknowledgement without so much as turning to look at him.
“ What do you know about (y/n) (y/l/n?”
Zabini’s focus wavered and he set down the prophet and sent Draco a confused look , “ You meaning that overly peppy girl? What you trying to shag her?”
The image of being intimate with (y/n) made Draco’s pale face turn pink, “ No you idiot, Merlin never mind!” Draco shot up and practically ran from the dining hall and back to the Slytherin dorms.
He went into his down and flopped down on his bed and stared at the ceiling of his canopy bed, why the hell did he feel like this? Why was his stomach bubbling and why were his cheeks burning. His heart was racing and his palms sweating. Why did what Blaise said embarrass him that much-?
Oh.
Oh no.
Draco jumped out of bed and began pacing around his dorm, what was he going to do? He had to do something, right? He couldn’t fancy her, he was Draco bloody Malfoy, and she was just some half-blood in Hufflepuff!
That night Draco lay wide awake contemplating his plan for the next day and how he would get rid of this unwanted crush. He decided to just ignore it, that seemed simple enough, right?
---
You came in late once again and you looked to Draco, waiting for his questions but they never came. The Slytherin stared straight ahead, not even looking in your direction.
You sent him a questioning look but ignored it.
Later in class you asked him how his day was going and there was no response, you figured he didn’t hear you so you said it louder, and again there was nothing.
You expected this from the other Slytherins, but not Draco. You felt a dull pain in your heart and swallowed the lump rising in your throat. You weren’t sure wahy you were on the brink of tears. People had done worse than this to you, they practically still do torment you.
But their taunts felt like nothing compared to this silent treatment.
“ What did I do?” you asked at last.
No response.
When the bell rang you flew past Draco who hadn’t even left his seat. You were out the door before he could blink. He felt the unfamiliar sensation of guilt coil in his stomach and the next thing he knew, he was following you.
Draco made it just in time to see the tail end of you turn down a corridor. He pursued you, trying to think of what he was going to say, or how he was going to explain. He just knew he couldn’t tell you the truth, he couldn’t even believe it himself.
His shoes slapped against the flagstone floors as he tried to find you, but after a little over fifteen minutes he gave up. At least he knew he’d see you when you left Transfiguration in a few hours.
It was his study hall so he headed toward the library when he heard a group of boys roaring with laughter. He didn’t pay it much mind, it wasn’t uncommon to hear students horsing around in the halls.
When he rounded the corner his stomach dropped through the floor.
It was you, surrounded by five of his housemates.
“ Aw, did we make you cry, Puff?” sneered Anthony Stone.
Your fists clenched beside you and you stood tall, “ Shove off! I can only stand you lot once a day, why break the routine now, huh?”
The boys laughed once again, “ You think you’re so big and bad? Show us what you can do, bitch!” said one of them shoving your shoulder.
He noticed the way you tensed up but nevertheless you shoved his hand off you. He recognized your wand in Avery’s hand and he took that split second to admire your courage. Five creepy ass blokes against one tough, but practically defenseless girl.
Draco managed to awake from his stupor and in an instant he felt blood rush to his ears and his heart hammer against his chest, “ Oy!” he hollered.
The boys looked up just as Draco sent a flurry of hexes their way, not giving a rat ass they would run off and tell their other housemates about him defending a half-blood. Merlin he could already hear the howler.
The group of Slytherins screamed as sharp pins poked them on the bum as they ran down the corridor, eventually fading from view.
You blinked with a dumbfounded but horrified look, “ I-,”
“ Why the hell didn’t you tell me?” snapped Draco, “ I could have done something about-,”
“ Why would you?” you asked incredulously.
“ Because I-!” he stopped himself, he couldn’t finish the sentence. They stayed in awkward silence for a moment, barely a foot apart and staring at one another.
“ Because?” you asked softly, a (y/s/t) hand reaching out to touch his forearm. Your (y/e/c) had his insides melting and your hopeful face obliterated him, what did he do?
“ Because... that’s what friends are for?” he said like he was unsure himself.
You couldn’t help but giggle and step a little bit closer, “ Draco?” you hummed.
“ Er yeah?”
You smiled, “ For once in your life shut the hell up,”
That was all it took for the blond to swoop down and kiss you.
