i've seen you rec draco's boy a couple times now, and i actually really want to check it out, even though i've never read a non magic au. but the thing is, the hex files are quite uncomfortable to read from. i've read somewhere they were going to move all the hex files fics to ao3, starting on october. would you review it a lil bit? without giving too much away?
Hi! I definitely get the hesitation, i prefer in canon verse fics to non magic aus as well. I can give two alternatives. AO3 admins recently released a post announcing they’ve decided to move all the Hex Files and HP Fandom fics, their given date was October like you’ve heard. So the first option could be to wait for the move. The second option is reading it on FFnet if you’re more comfortable with it. Just a little warning though, FFnet version of the Draco’s Boy doesn’t have some of the nsfw parts (which accounts for roughly 3-4k).I can give some brief info about it without giving out too much though.Draco’s Boy is about Draco and Harry becoming first neighbors then best friends at a young age (they’re so adorable!). Sadly, due to some situations that would be spoilers, Draco and Narcissa move away , so Harry and Draco lose contact. Some years later, they coincidentally find each other again and start to reconnect. The whole fic is very emotional, it really delves in to the abuse and neglect Harry suffers from his relatives, and Harry’s rightfully angry and really affected by what he’s been through. It’s a beautiful fic that has a huge place in my heart, i’d definitely recommend giving it a chance when you can. :)
