Hey, we are trying the cube again. In round 3 I rumble against a much more popular streamer. Come check it out!
The depth of playables in this core set can make it difficult to figure out which colors you're in. Come see me try to figure it out!
December 23rd 2012, tried a power cube draft. Ended up with a mismatched blue green deck that I wasn't too happy with, took it 2-1 in a swiss (would have been taken out 2nd round if it was elimination)
Notes!
I assume if you're watching cube you know the cards fairly well.
This my first recording all advice is appreciated (on my recording and my drafting)
I keep saying in this format but I really have no clue this is my 3rd cube draft and I haven't been reading on it (this is just for fun so I have no reason to study it)
Return To Ravnica Drunk Draft 1! Bruce and Benny get drunk and get their draft on. Can they even make it past deck build? Watch and find out! (Apologies for the technical difficulties resulting in some zoom issues during this draft.)
Back from Barcelona, I talk about preparing for the Limited portion of the PT as well as Limited formats in general. Avacyn Restored is hard but rewarding and I enjoy it so far! For this episode, I even joined one of the horribly overcosted Swiss Prerelease Drafts, which I never do if there is no show to record. Enjoy and leave your comments!
German Boardgaming Championship 2012
Last Saturday (May 19th), Team Aachen Fantastics took part in the German Boardgaming Championship 2012. In 2010, we came in second on tiebreakers, in 2011 we managed to win the title and went on to place second in the European Boardgaming Championships. Sadly, we did not manage to keep the trophy in Aachen this time. Despite Grand-Prix winner Florian Koch as well as myself playing a perfect tournament (four 1st places), Team Aachen Fantastics only managed a disappointing 6th place. This leaves us unqualified for the European Champs as well as next years National Championship.
You can find the games we played on Saturday as well as my regularly updated boardgaming history in the Boardgaming tab. The more I play boardgames, the more I find that strategic boardgames are much closer to Magic than any other card game I know (and I know quite a few). Boardgames teach you a lot about resource conversion, tempo, how to work yourself through the decision tree and how different victory conditions influence your play. All of these aspects are vital to be successful at Magic.
For those interested in Draft videos of Avacyn Restored Limited, there should be a new episode of Simon Says at MTGOAcademy.com next Thursday. The German series Görtzen & Görtzen at planetmtg.de I do with my brother should also continue as soon as Release Events start on MTGO.
