RTR PET PEEVE #1
Only a few guild mages have flavor text.
I like to think this is the same dude.
Boros deck wins! Went 4 - 0 in my pre release.
It took me forever to get this edited but here is my second last Cube video from 2012. I forced RDW and well got beat by Moat mostly. Enjoy!
Avatar totally looks like...
Blast from the Past. Filter Madness! Starring the Angel's of AVR.
Xantcha was a Phyrexian Newt, created to be a sleeper agent on Dominaria. Created on the fourth sphere of Phyrexia and overseen by the Praetor Gix, Xantcha was found to have a fatal flaw. Xantcha was aware of herself and was not controlled by Yawgmoth. Deemed imperfect, Xantcha was taken to another plane to be destroyed.
As it so happened, Urza Planeswalker saw phyrexians about to destroy what looked to be a human girl. Urza had a long standing hate for phyrexians and stepped in to save her. Xantcha was thankful, and in return she helped Urza find Phyrexia. Urza had long wanted to destroy Phyrexia for corrupting his brother Mishra, but he did not know where the plane was. With Xantcha’s help, Urza infultraited the first, second, third and fourth sphere of Phyrexia (there was nine all together). Urza had vastly underestimated the Phyrexians forces and was being overwhelmed. While on the fourth sphere, Xantcha recovered her heart stone from where she had been made and then helped Urza retreat before he was completely overwhelmed.
Urza and Xantcha spent 5 years recovering in Serra’s Realm, an artificial plane created by the planeswalker Serra. Unfortunately the Phyrexians followed Urza to Serra’s plane and tainted it. Serra was forced to leave the plane and ultimately Urza had to collapse the plane in on itself, but doing so powered the powerstone core of the Weatherlight, allowing it to travel planes.
Urza and Xantcha spent many years living on Dominaria after the events on Serra’s plane. Xantcha became increasingly worried about Urza as he descended into madness, plotting to destroy Phyrexia and mourning his brother Mishra. Xantcha had an idea to help Urza regain his sanity, she found a slave that resembled Mishra and paid for his freedom. Using the slave, named Ratepe, Xantcha was able to bring Urza’s mind back to the present.
Once Urza was back to himself Xantcha found that a nearby city was being infiltrated by sleeper agents from Phyrexia. Xantcha and Urza hatched a plan to take care of the sleepers, but while executing the plan Xantcha discovered the Praetor Gix was leading them.
Urza fought Gix and for a while it seemed they were evenly matched. However, Gix started to gain the upper hand in the fight. Xantcha and Ratepe decided to join the fight sacrificing themselves to save Urza. This allowed Urza to gain the upper hand and push Gix through a portal.
Urza saved Xantcha’s heart stone and eventually used it as the power core of Karn the silver golem. This is what allowed Mirrodin to be corrupted by Phyrexia, since the glistening oil still existed in Karn and eventually tainted Mirrodin’s residents.
Xantcha’s Quoted Cards
Darkest Hour “Yawgmoth spent eons wrapping Phyrexians in human skin. They are the sleeper agents, and they are everywhere.”
—Xantcha, to Urza
Healing Salve “Xantcha is recovering. The medicine is slow, but my magic would have killed her.”
—Serra, to Urza
Ill-Gotten Gains Urza thought it a crusade. Xantcha knew it was a robbery.
Oppression “Do not presume to speak for yourself.”
—Gix, to Xantcha
Planar Void “Planeswalking isn’t about walking. It’s about falling and screaming.”
—Xantcha, Phyrexian outcast
Priest of Gix “Gix doesn’t want a people to rule but puppets to entertain his madness.”
—Xantcha, Phyrexian outcast
Unnerve “If fear is the only tool you have left, then you’ll never control me.”
—Xantcha, to Gix
Victimize The priest cast Xantcha to the ground. “It is defective. We must scrap it.”
Yawgmoth’s Edict “Phyrexia’s purity permits no other.”
—Xantcha, Phyrexian outcast
Gix’s Quoted Cards
Bereavement “Grief is as useless as love.”
—Gix, Yawgmoth praetor
Blood Vassal “They are bred to suffer and born to die. Much like humans.”
—Gix, Yawgmoth praetor
Claws of Gix When the Brotherhood of Gix dug out the cave of Koilos they found their master’s severed hand. They enshrined it, hoping that one day it would point the way to Phyrexia.
Duress “We decide who is worthy of our works.”
—Gix, Yawgmoth praetor
Grafted Skullcap “Let go your mind. Mine is fitter.”
—Gix, Yawgmoth praetor
Parasitic Bond “All bonds are parasitic. Only rulership is pure.”
—Gix, Yawgmoth praetor
Spined Fluke Its spines are prized as writing quills by the priests of Gix.
Tainted AEther Gix despised the sylvan morass. The gouge that the portal had torn in the forest was the only pleasing sight.
Really an excellent summary. The Urza block books are the only ones I had fond memories of from when I used to read the novels. I dare not read any of them again because teenage me probably had much different tastes than adult me.
Magic: the Gathering - Gatecrash Speculation This very fuzzy image teaser showing the 5 promotional Gatecrash prerelease cards (in your Guild prerelease pack) which in all likelihood would also be the foil rare in each of the 5 Gatecrash IntroPacks. Each of prerelease cards appear to be a creature featuring the mechanic of a respective guild - Orzhov - Extort (Treasury Thrall?) Dimir - Cipher Gruul - Bloodrush (Rubblehulk?) Boros - Battalion Simic - Evolve (Fathom Mage?)
It looks like based on the art and matching text lengths
Orzhov - Treasury Thrull Dimir - Nothing but I bet it will be a Nightwing something something, I highly highly doubt creatures can have cipher so I don't believe it will be a cipher card (no way it's not a creature) Gruul - Rubblehulk Boros - Foundry Champion Simic - Fathom Mage
None of these truly sway me in terms of what I want to play at the pre-release. I think I'm going to base my decision mostly on what the common removal cards look like.
New Cube draft, went Blue Green again with a super bad deck. Took it farther than I thought I would. The finals are funny in a Timmyesque way.
My 2nd recorded Cube draft! I titled this one "Esper Fail" as I went Esper and kinda just... failed.
A couple more censored cards. Green Black seems to be the best colour for making things misleadingly gross.
Bloodrush Mechanic per MaRo
Hoping it's the set's unleash mechanic and looks weaker than it is.
First of the blast from the past stuff I did on my old (now dead and defunct) accounts. I was always a sucker for these and will probably make a couple more.
PS. Liliana should probably be in Sorin's spot. But I'm too lazy for that.
A new day and a new preview card. The question is, is bloodrush a landmatters mechanic? Or is it a secondary discard for this cost effect? I am wondering if it's going to be a pseudo giant growth effect that differs from card to card (that one is my bet)
For all you MTG-Pacman lovers! As you can see, Blinky and Pinky are lingering around while Inky and Clyde are waiting on flashback to bring them into play! XP “Like”» facebook.com/OhMaiAlters for a chance to win this classic!
Another awesome piece of art work from ohmaialters. Too clever.

debating on whether i want to do a set of 4 or make variations….
Beautiful hand-painted altered card art of one of Magic's most beloved staples. Please do variations, ohmaialters. We'd love to see more!
