🥛 [MILK] What is your OC's relationship with their biological parents like? What about their relationship with any non-biological parental figures?

their relationship with their parents was pretty good throughout their childhood, but they do not really keep in touch once they’ve moved out & their vision starts/paranoia increases, which contributes to their feelings of isolation while on the seals.

wrt non-bio parent figures, they only really have the one - @frosteee-variation’s drafty shipshape (though @courfeyracs-swordcane’s azalea recused could probably be something approaching a parent figure if she put her mind to it). the only seal who came close was probably pidge (they weren’t anywhere near close enough with anyone else on the team, the only people sat even bonds with are zamanda, kumi, millenia, june, eliot & ikari ) but while pidge was probably the closest with (& nicest to) sat, she is a close friend, not anybody’s parent.)

sat started out as very very antagonistic towards drafty, pretty much entirely avoiding them out of fear & anger, which went on for ~3 weeks. drafty & sat do end up having a conversation about how sat got to the Guys & they both realized they’re more similar than they are different (the plot of the satdrafty fic i talk about all the time lmao). drafty feels a lot of protectiveness toward/sympathy (masking a LITTLE pity) for sat. drafty realizes pretty early on that sat is going to kill themself trying to live up to the seals’ memory if nobody stops them, and drafty helps sat memorialize & grieve their teammates in a healthier manner than they would otherwise. i think they also bond a lot over being living warnings that will never actually be heard, and being permanently in the wrong time, and both not really knowing how old they are. i’m really normal about how similar they are despite how fucking different their lives seem. they’re also both haunted & i think that 1) drafty is one of maybe 3 people sat willingly lets see them when they’re actively haunted & 2) they help each other learn how to better cope with being haunted. they both kind of grow & help each other heal by virtue of getting to know the other. i’m super fucking normal about them.

Okay so. Drafty lies. A lot. A LOT. Most of the time it’s not in a serious situation though, mostly just ghost misinformation because they think it’s funny around the other Guys.

They’re definitely good at it though, shockingly! You wouldn’t really expect them to be given how honest they seem, but a pirate’s got to be a pirate sometimes, matey. It’s really hard to tell whether or not they’re lying from voice alone, though. Their biggest tell is that usually they’ll have a sort of like.

like. a grin. y’know. not anything too visible, but the best way I can describe it is the vibe of Calvin’s dad in Calvin and Hobbes when he tells him they got him from Sears. it’s like that sort of commitment to the bit

🌋 VOLCANO - how bad is their temper? is it a slow boil, or a instant explosion?

okay ignore the fact that i’ve only thought of this in regards to the fact the “drafty caused the titanic to sink despite doing literally everything in their power to not cause the titanic to sink” BUT I HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT THIS A FAIR AMOUNT

I feel like Drafty doesn’t have much of a temper. It’s a rare occurrence to actually see it show. Maybe there’s a bit of discomfort or agitation, maybe they’re just less amused, but they’re not the kind to be quick to anger. More on the “slower boil” side of things methinks?

I always imagine it as like. To stick with the theming, if it ever does happen, it’s got the vibe of a storm. A slow enough build that you can see the dark clouds from miles away, where you can see a bit of agitation in the waves, with a thick sort of feeling that hangs in the air. Drafty’s got that terrifying “quiet, cool, seething” sort of anger, I think!

The deck rocked beneath their boots at a pace they were all-too-familiar with, the planks creaking with the same give that they knew they always had, the waves hitting the hull in arcs that they practically knew by heart; but this was not their ship.

is because they’ve witnessed the same type of scene so many times and also because of the curse thing they quite literally know exactly what will happen every time but I feel that one’s more upfront about it???

like I know in the Knight/Abacus thing I’m writing there’s a brief mention by The Knight of how the halls feel “empty” and how a sort of “hollow feeling” sort of follows them everywhere they go

and I 100% intended for that to be a minor implication that a) the hall of champions is a literal part of them in a weird sort of god/domain way and b) they are a Trojan Horse so that emptiness is very literal in that case

🍌 [BANANA] Have parts of your OC been lost to time (in-universe)? What do they wish they could lose from themselves?

I definitely think Drafty’s origins have been lost to both time and themselves. They don’t remember where they came from! It’s been hundreds of years, possibly even thousands!! Who really knows? Sailors have probably speculated in their time, but nobody’s really thinking about the ghost skeleton’s backstory when the ghost skeleton is standing there and your entire ship immediately crashes into several icebergs.

They’ve just kind of been… there. Definitely from the Age of Piracy, but from no definite source. I don’t think they particularly want to know.

As for what they’d want to lose? hmmm that’s a little more difficult methinks. I think they’d want to lose their purpose and just vibe instead. You know. Normal undead instead of deadly one.

OOH that’s a little tough… Drafty’s not the type to find or accept companionship too easily, but I imagine The Guys as a whole!!

yes they are more than one person but. their weirdness (affectionate) and propensity for somehow making it through tragedy can at least let them feel like “hey, maybe this can last actually” but in a more pirate-y spelling.

specifically though I would say Azalea as fucked up in it buddies :] if they ever got over those omen concerns of theirs at least
