162 years ago, on this day in 1861, twelve people were arrested in New York for taking part in a drag ball, also called a "Macintosh ball" by this paper. The article describes people "dressed in gorgeous style, sporting the most costly silks and satins, and having their hair dressed in curls and other feminine attractions."

In 2017, Los Angeles Pride Parade was cancelled and was replaced with a Resist March. After all the work that the queers before us did. We were repeating history and once again taking to the streets to fight for our rights! Education is the key. Ignorance breeds intolerance. Learn to love one another and if you can’t learn to love one another, look the other way. We are not a free people until everyone of us has the same rights. Sassy says: “Love Wins.”
