Rarity being the most flirtatious of the mane six, plus canonically bisexual, and being single/unmarried in the finale is the biggest sign of character growth. she lives her life for herself and found she didn’t need a partner to be happy like she thought in earlier seasons with Blueblood and Trender Hoof ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
also, somewhat related: “Dragon Dropped” is about Spike no longer having feelings for Rarity and moving on from his childhood crush as he goes into adulthood. It’s about how their friendship changes because of that and R learning that it’s okay to have him not be outwardly interested in romance anymore.

Jasper's ACTUAL Thoughts: ...eh, this one's not terrible, it's just kinda dumb. I dunno, maybe because I couldn't get behind the whole Spike x Rarity thing, but I kinda saw it as a crush and nothing more. I'm glad we're tying up the loose end of it and showing that Spike isn't as gaga crazy about Rarity anymore... just wish it didn't involve Rarity getting all possessive and jealous when she never even showed sign of returning his feelings (Spike ain't no toy, Marshmallow pone!). I didn't HATE the episode, I actually did like a few things - Rarity being overdramatic with her apologies (God bless Tabitha, when she sells it, SHE SELLS IT!!), Spike and Gabby are actually really cute together ^^ (I don't know if I ship them yet.... but I'm close), and like I said, great to see the whole Sparity thing come to an end -also a few subtle things like Derpy hastily closing shop when Rarity comes in with her big box of stuffs and Twilight basically needing her OWN fainting couch.

I had always hoped there would be final story arc for Spike and Rarity. And honestly? "Dragon Dropped" is Heartwarming, Surprising, and still provides a Satisfying Resolution to their Friendship :)
