I'm on vacation in california and saw a guy on a golf cart go by with a little jack russel and a wire hair and my first reaction was "woody and bella?!?"
I can’t believe they’d go on holidays without me!
oh are we sharing animals?
heres my dogs
and heres the clinic cat where I work
Um that's not a cat that's clearly 12 cans of Royal Canin
And BABIES! Such sleepy bubs...
do you ever wish you could go back in time to rabidly attack the person who did the things they did to your house
Sometimes. Mostly I just want to go back in time, grab myself from eight years ago, and go "DON'T DO IT! IT SEEMS LIKE TOO GOOD OF A DEAL TO BE TRUE AND IT IS!!! THE TWENTY MATTRESSES IN THE GARAGE AREN'T JUST WEIRD, THEY'RE A RED FLAG AND THE FLAG IS ON FIRE!!"
going to get a wooden sign that says WEAR A MASK and start hitting people with it if I see them without one istg
hi! thanks for running this its great on helping me keep up-to-date with common animal problems and finding out new things! just wanted to ask if you have any tips on caring for an old dog with newly developed dementia?
vet-and-wild here.
Canine cognitive dysfunction (doggy dementia) can be difficult. Dogs may get confused, even to the point that they forget basic potty rules. You may have to treat them like they’re a puppy again and keep them contained when you can’t directly supervise them. Take them out frequently and reward them for appropriate elimination. In terms of other confusion, try not to rearrange familiar areas if you can help it. That may just make it harder.
Medicine wise, there has been a study showing that enrichment, omega 3s, and antioxidants can delay and even improve the symptoms of canine cognitive dysfunction. There are both over the counter and prescription diets that may cater to this, as well as supplements. There is anecdotal evidence that ginkgo may help with canine cognitive dysfunction, and of course I’m always a fan of fish oil. For enrichment, puzzle toys and training are very manageable for most senior dogs.
But most importantly, be patient with them. It’s not a bad idea to keep track of good days and bad days so you know which way the dog is trending.
I feel like roach and newman would have the "you know like nya" comic vibes
Yes, yes they have ;3
hey just to let you know the vid with the pygmy falcon is not good!! birds of prey should not be inside someones house and any reputable person would be using a glove for safety. birds of prey are also not pets they are wild animals
its the same with otters. if they are in someones house it is automatically a red flag. they are wild animals and are not pets. keeping them as such reduces their quality of life and brings danger to both the "owner" and the animal since they are not domestic and have wild instincts. acting on those instincts gets them abandoned or euthanized since people buy them without any proper preparation
hello! yeah the glove thing should have tipped me off...i was thinking maybe it was a falconer or something since i don’t know much about that job but now that i think about it a falconer would probably be more strict about proper equipment and boundaries wrt their birds
thank you for letting me know! i’m going to remove the post in a bit
