Pinned? About? I guess?
Hi! Iâm Jay (he/him), Iâm a cattle farmer from Australia with a bunch of dogs.
Art/fandom sideblog: @tevian-art
My dogs are: Bella, Chip, Molly, Woody, and Pixie
This blog occasionally runs on an untagged queue, and for obvious reasons I have an Australian Timezone (AEST).
More info etc:
***
Chip: 10 year old Border Collie x Koolie (alleged). The face of an angel, with many many terrible schemes and plans. Retired working stock dog. Not Double Merle! Just extreme white spotted.
Bella: 14 year old Jack Russell Terrier x Fox Terrier (wire coat). May be a human trapped in a dog body. May be a faerie sent to haunt me. Who knows. A being of unimaginable power. Is of the belief that she and I are the same creature in two separate bodies, and if separated for too long I will perish.
Molly: 5 year old Working Kelpie (1/2) x Border Collie (1/4) x Cattle Dog (1/4) (allegedly.). Purpose bred working stock dog mix. Looks like a dingo. Acts like a toddler. Pretends to be a crocodile when in the water. The most un-dog-like dog Iâve ever owned.
Woody: 4 year old Jack Russell Terrier (smooth coat). Buff, fast, and fierce. She thinks sheâs a cattle dog and can jump concerningly high in the air. Obsessed with water when it comes from a hose. Loves to be held. Dense like a brick.
Pixie: baby Jack Russell Terrier (broken coat). Tiny chaos faerie who lives life at top gear at all times. She enjoys country music and biting things. Pixie is the only dog that actively lives with me, the others live with my parents.
Dogs have individual tags which are â#[name] dogâ.
I hunt with them for pest control, and I talk about hunting with dogs (and without) fairly regularly so feel free to block tags like âhuntingâ and âworking terrierâ. I never post hunting pictures. Iâm a licensed firearm user and am extremely pro gun license. I talk about the history of working terriers A Lot, itâs my favourite topic.
I have a dog training question, can I ask you?
I would prefer you talk to a dog trainer in person, preferably an r+ trainer, and go from there. I am simply a guy with dogs, and this is the internet. They arenât as well behaved as they seem online I promise.
I have a terrier question, can I ask you?
Absolutely! This is the terrier propaganda blog after all. You are also welcome to tell me about your terrier adventures and antics.
Why do you post so much about Dandie Dinmont Terriers?
Theyâre my favourite breed. Yes really. Of course JRTs and Fox Terriers are equal second. If Dandies werenât so rare I would have like 12.

Cows???
My family breed Santa Gertrudis cattle and mix-breeds for beef. Santa Gertrudis is an American beef breed developed from a Beef Shorthorn/Brahman cross. My family have been breeding them for 50 years.
I only personally own a few crossbreed cows, and you can find them and their calves in the #my herd tag! Ask me questions about them, they are my best girls and I love them.
I had a Brahman cow named Feeble who I hand reared and loved like my own daughter. Feeble passed away in April 2024 and left an enormous hole in my heart. She was dearly loved and she knew it.

I want to start a farm/work on a farm, have any tips?
I do not have an ancestor in living memory who was not either a farmer or married to a farmer. So I really donât, unfortunately. Theres lots of Facebook groups so I guess start there.
I saw [xyz farm thing] that I donât understand and think is bad, what do you think?
I am of the belief that if it is not my animal it is not my problem. That being said, if you are interested in learning and ask politely, I am happy to discuss all things cattle.

Thereâs more animals???
I have two kiko goats (Noddy and Nimble), a heap of guinea fowl, and also chooks. The main chook feature is probably my rooster Tiramisu. He is an Orpington x Plymouth Rock/Aracuana and is dinosaur sized. I occasionally hatch birds and itâs usually a saga when it happens.

Other stuff?
UhâŠ
I thought you were are farmer, why are you talking about working in a shop/dealing with customers?
I work in town for an agricultural mechanic. Itâs how I afford to play with cows on my weekends. Itâs also why this is more of a dog blog than a farm blog now. My family run the farm and I just turn up to work, like a cattle dog with thumbs and a forklift license.
Why are you posting about the world wars/history, I thought this was an animal blog?
Australia in WW1 & WW2 is my special interest. I read history books for fun. You too should read non fiction for fun.
Whatâs the deal with the bushranger posting?
Historical family involvement. No, Iâm not kidding. Yes, they got away with it.
