— 𝐇𝐄'𝐃 𝐁𝐄𝐄𝐍 𝐆𝐈𝐕𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐇𝐄 scaly - hide animal a wide berth . a very , VERY wide berth . at first , rand had spooked at it , INSTINCTIVELY REACHING for his sword , or the Power . he had failed to claim either . one was broken , never to be used again . the other . . . rand wet his lips and grimaced . he could feel saidin . even now , he could feel it beyond his reach — BUT IT WAS INACCESSIBLE TO HIM . somehow that was more terrifying than the beast in front of him . he did not want to dwell long on why .

the beast and its ward were making a decent enough distraction , although rand still kept a measured distance between the two . just because this man - HICCUP ? he called himself ? — just because this hiccup said he was a friend ( to the beast ! he said he was a bloody friend to the bloody beast ! ) did not mean rand was willing to get close enough to try his luck . as it so happened , they had each startled each other , having been poking around the base of the whispering highlands , where the high steps led to the mouth of a deep , crawling mountain pass . rand had stumbled across them first , although it was entirely by accident on his part . he'd been distracted by the book and map in his hands , trying to figure out what about this place made it fit for a pilgrimage — hoping to sense it for himself , AND FAILING .

now , he was sitting squatted against a nearby jutted rock , ACROSS FROM THE MAN AND HIS BEAST , and altogether still trying to get his own bearings . hiccup , he did not mind . it was the beast that raised his guard still , much as hiccup had a fine handle on it . still staring at it warily , rand tried again to make better sense of it .

He didn’t know why he insisted on carrying his briefcase around. It wasn’t as if anything in there was much use here—it was the same stuff he’d had since he found himself here on the way to work.

But among the random papers and dog-eared books, there was also room to hide secret and important things. He just hoped the eyes from that mysterious creature did not mean they planned on seeing how well he could defend himself, and the important things in his bag.

No, those weren’t the evil eyes of some interdimensional creature, they were the hungry eyes of a pet. He’d know them anywhere, despite being used to seeing them on Krypto rather than a dragon.

Well, he was pretty sure this was a dragon. He glanced down into his bag, digging around to see what it was that the dragon seemed so interested in.

“Ah—salami—” He took the wrapped sandwich out of his bag. How long has that been in here? Before or after he’d gotten yanked between dimensions? Hopefully after.

“Is this what you want?” He asked, holding it up so the creature could see. He knew better than to feed someone’s pet without permission, so he quickly called over to the guy he assumed was the dragon’s owner. “Can he have some of this? It’s salami, and what I hope is mustard and not old mayo—”

For Pure Vanilla being a rather small Sheep was not the worse, he was much smaller and could hide under things. It was like seeing the world in a whole new light. Well still rather blurry light but new all the same.

What was not as fun was the noise in the Aether Reserve itself, the buzz of something that he felt he should avoid as well as he could. After hiding and running between parts of the reserve he can say for sure that he was, lost.

Yet was that a shape of something he knew? Large and black with a vague human shape near it. Perhaps it was his best chance of getting back to town if he could get close. He goes for a sprint though the underbrush to get closer before tripping the rolling his way to the feet of the pair.

"Baa..." He was a rather dizzy sheep now, legs feeling too shaky to stand up for a moment.

"Hey did you have some freaky friday switch Sora or something? Because Toothless isn't telling me stuff and just continues to side eye both of you." His stubborn dragon has been bribed with marshmallows or fish, what is this sorcery.

"What are you talking about?"

'Pit' said simply. A little giggle escaped him as he shrugged.

"Sora's out doing his own thing and my wings are aching from flying around so much... So I'm taking a break!"

That's how Pit talked, right? Sora never intentionally imitated someone before, so he had to think long and hard about what Pit would do and would say.

'Pit' reached out towards Toothless with a gentle smile. "Right boy?"
