(1/3) I humbly submit for consideration to the addition of assassinations the crash of Piedmont Flight 22 in Hendersonville, NC on July 19, 1967. The crash was caused by air traffic control instructing a Cessna to fly directly into a collision with the 727. Everyone on board was killed including the asst Secretary of Defense who was about to be sworn in as Secretary of the Navy, a Navy Flight Engineer who was supposedly working on a top secret project, several prominent businessmen going to a
(2/3) convention. Someone on board was supposedly carrying a cashiers check for $1.5 million dollars and the FBI had every available man out searching every speck of dirt in the debris field and about a mile radius outside it. The official inquiry was very publicly flawed because the lead NTSB investigator was the brother of the airline CEO. My grandfather was the head of the local ambulance service at the time and a couple uncles who were firemen. My uncle who was in the police academy and my
(3/3) dad who was 16 were called out there to help by their dad. All were instructed to never talk about it. Martial law was declared for the county for about 5 days. My grandpa told me years later that he always thought there was a bomb on the Cessna. Last year the town was planning a memorial for the 50th anniversary, and as soon as it was announced, 90% of the info about the incident on the internet disappeared.
PS - to this day, occasionally someone finds something they think might be a piece of debris from the crash, and the feds show up to claim it.
That’s amazing and terrifying.
