After rereading His Dark Materials I was reminded of your Daemon AU, was wondering if you had any thoughts on what Caduceus daemon???
oooooh! good question. I don’t have anything concrete, but it would definitely be some sort of pack animal (though I’m slightly tempted to go with a jewel beetle of some kind for the aesthetic, and because I’d be lying if I said I didn’t like the idea of both him and molly having small, bright little daemons).
I think a denning mammal, probably, given his strong family ties and tendency to look out for others. Something low energy, sedate, and ideally native to the forest/woodlands. Probably an omnivore and a forager? I’m tempted to say something from the Marmotini tribe but those are mostly grassland mammals. Maybe a wombat, actually. A marsupial seems fitting, it’s generally slow but active when threatened, and they’re adapted to multiple climates including rainforest and woodland. Plus they’re kind of an evolutionary mystery which just feels right for Cad.
