Headcanon: Dragon”slayer” Braum
Just a post I felt like doing for dumping some headcanons regarding one of Braum’s skins, which I’ll more than happily consider as a verse or AU for this blog; Dragonslayer Braum. But would he really be a dragon “slayer”?
Truth be told, I do not see Braum as the kind of person who’d gladly or even reluctantly want to slay dragons, as he is such a pure-hearted individual who cares not just for humans, but otherworldly being as well (proven due to him saving a trapped troll child in his “canon” version). He does not wish ill upon any creature that inhabits Valoran, unless they attack him first, and even then he only fights in self-defense, his abilities first and foremost being about diminishing damage, as well as slowing down and hampering his foes.
So in my verse for Dragonslayer Braum, he’d not be as much of a dragon SLAYER, and more of perhaps a dragon TAMER, a la “How To Train Your Dragon”. Heck, his design could easily be used for a HTTYD viking. Either way, Dragon”slayer” Braum was naturally approached to fight dragons due to his immense strength and durable body, but on his first mission to deal with a rampaging dragon, everyone was surprised when he wrestled the beast into submission with his bare hands, but instead of tearing out its heart... he plucked out a huge thorn from under its foot!
Braum and the dragon, whom he named Jörmung, became almost like bond-brothers after that, as they ate, slept, and fought together, until the dragon grew old. Braum was there when the dragon drew his final breath, but as its body vanished into dust, its soul was infused with the massive shield Braum usually wielded, and the head of the beast grew out of the front of it, capable of spewing fire from its mouth.
And so Braum keeps fighting dragons, not to slay them for trophies, but to tame them and show his people how fun dragons can be! If you raise them properly, with lots of food and care, of course!
