As we all know, I love a little subversiveness and a lot of silly in my picture books, so it's no wonder that "Dragon Was Terrible" (2016) by Kelly DiPucchio and Greg Pizzoli was a huge hit around here. It hits all the right notes: a ridiculously badly behaved dragon (he burps in church and terrorises fluffy ducklings, for heaven's sake!), wonderful language usage that doesn't condescend to kids, and a little kid protagonist who in classic fairytale style uses his brain to get the better of the dragon.
