At a time when I felt emotionally drained, when I avoided all media--both social and traditional--because I could not stand to be reminded of the progeny of hate that was the Orlando massacre, I felt blessed, honored, gifted with the opportunity to put on some drag, and read to some children. The kids welcomed me with Pride month signs and made me feel so loved and accepted. They had no problems gendering me appropriately or understanding the concept of a drag queen... There is hope.
