Literally some people in the ACOTAR fandom are so angry and toxic. Like, I get it. There are parts of ACOTAR that are problematic, there are parts that I don't like, and I spend a lot of time questioning the motivations behind certain actions that characters make (and why SJM would write it that way). It is PERFECTLY OKAY to question the media that you enjoy, and to call it out when it is being problematic. Here's what's not okay.
Telling fan-artists and fanfiction writers that they are not real artists/writers because the media that they create for is problematic. Provided we aren't praising and commending the problematic parts, then I don't see what the problem is? Fan-artists and fanfiction writers spend A LOT of time on their craft - whether they are professional outside of the fandom or not, the action of creating that art makes them an artist regardless. I find this such an odd thing to argue against?
Saying that people only post about ACOTAR for clout and to build a fan-base. Like...no? I post about it because I like it, and just because I like it, doesn't make me a "bad person", it makes me someone who can enjoy a piece of media whilst still being able to pick out the problems and create discussions about them with like-minded people? Liking something doesn't automatically make you a bad person. Besides, you have an entire blog dedicated to ACOTAR so....isn't that literally you as well? You can't vilify an entire fandom for liking something and call them all horrible people whilst also being a part of that fandom?
Anyway, I just really wish people would be nice to other people. We're all in the same fandom, we're all here for the same reasons. It is VERY POSSIBLE to have discussions and debates about problematic/toxic parts of ACOTAR without directly attacking the people that disagree with you (wasn't me, just an argument I witnessed, but I did end up blocking them regardless cause I don't want or need that negativity anywhere near my blog). Can't we all just agree to enjoy the things we love and not always make it a competition or an argument?
