With a mighty heft, Lux pulled the two swords from among the treasure hoard, immediately sensing the great power behind them. The vault had been the property of a powerful and bloodthirsty king . . . who had drawn Lux’s ire by attempting to make her kingdom part of his. Instead, she had dethroned him, putting a council of more sensible people in charge, wise men who would both rule their people more justly and know better than to pick a fight with the Queen of the Elements.
But now . . . she hadn’t intended to take anything with her, but the council had insisted she at least look and see if anything call to her. And the moment she had stepped inside, the blades had called to her.
A gasp shook her as she felt . . . life. Elemental energy of a kind that called right to her heart, bringing heartfelt words to her lips.
