You know me, pencil in some dragons and no matter how bad, I'll almost always watch it. And while I won't say Drifting Dragons was bad, I can't really say that it was... well, anything, really.
It's the same borderline awkward animation style that Polygon used for Sidonia no Kishi (you know, the unnaturally over-CGI'ed characters and scenery that always seem almost unfinished in a way but look amazing at the same time?), but unlike Sidonia no Kishi that has a lot of facets and a pretty rampant pace, Drifting Dragons just... well, it just "is". The plot is negligible at best, the characters are shallow and static, and it's mostly just single-episode tales with no real arcs or overall flow to it. The show literally just IS. And, I'm fairly sure someone out there is up in arms that draking unmistakably is the whaling industry, and having any show depicting such inhuman atrocities should never have been allowed or blah blah blah... I saw it as a made up story and one I chose to watch, so that aspect didn't really bother me the way a documentary about real creatures and real evil most certainly would have. Either way, I lost interest in this one pretty quickly, to be honest.
Still, there are some fun parts and there is quite a bit of imagination to DD, so am not sorry I spent my afternoon on it by any means. But I can't imagine ever feeling the need to do it again, either.
I think we should rule out commitment for now cause we're falling apart.
