It's over. Oh my god, it's over. I'm dead on my feet. But this last week, although hard as all hell, was still one of the most satisfying I've ever had.

For those of you who aren't aware, I had the honor of being a director for a play competition/festival. I've spent the last month directing a short comedy that performed for the last time tonight. It was a wild, stressful ride, and I can't remember the last time I slept properly. But it paid off in the end.

Tonight, I had the pleasure to be awarded second place for Best Show, first place for Best Costume, and most honorably of all -- Best Director due to my stage direction. One of my leads won first place for Best Lead Actress and the other won third place for Best Lead Actress. They both won the special award for Best Onstage Chemistry. They went from almost entirely new actors to winning awards in one show, and I couldn't be prouder.

One of the director's gifts I got from them was a Dammit doll, and... I'm not sure what that says about me or why that was the first gift they thought to get me, buuut... I'm very grateful.

I just can't stress enough how phenomenal this show and these girls were. They brought their characters to life, and it would have been nothing without them (particularly since 99% of the comedy was physical comedy). This last week I've had to endure: one of them accidentally chucking a rock at an old lady in the audience, the same actress not being able to find her prop gun and walking onstage with fucking finger guns, her co-actress doing the same thing by pretending to have a flashlight that was not actually there, fun special handshakes I had to be very stern about not actually doing in the show, a different actress running onstage without shoes, the crew forgetting an entire bookcase, and that's not even the half of it -- and yet, I couldn't ask for anything more.

I hope to god I have the amazing pleasure and opportunity to do something like this again.

(Oh, and if you want to know what it was about... all I'll say is that it was called The Alien Next Door.)
