I think he did it after prom, just in the middle of the night. He's extra and romantic like that.
Either it's written in the stars and this will be seen in the future as the star of something beautiful.
Or it's star-crossed and this will be a memorial to the one that got away.

Jon is an emotional drunk. Sansa can hold her drink better, ffs.
Just thinking about the fact that Jon was solidly sloshed in his first chapter when we meet him at peak snarkitude and personal misery, glaring at them all, not censoring his radiant thoughts, variously grinning and crying, before drunkenly encountering the queen’s oddball brother doing Olympic Gymnastics off the architecture, teasing him and giving him life advice about bastardy out of nowhere.
And then sitting in a window the next day, hungover like a wrung-out hedgehog, a headache the size of the Iron Islands probably, glumly staring at his sister’s rumored betrothed making fun of his brothers, excluded once more, giving depressing life advice to his beloved little sister, “nothing is fair” like a true fourteen-year-old cynic, only to turn around later and order her a secret tiny murder weapon to cheer her up.
I have feelings about this messy child.

It's compelling but it sucks cause my faves can't ever stay happy 😔😔
