#dramatic faceup

I painted my recently arrived Impldoll Moira in dark tan skin. She is an absolute stunner! I am not entirely happy with how the eyebrows and lashes turned out, but it's good enough for me (for now).

I also made her eyes, but these are only temporary ones, as it took me another month to make her her actual eyes. Only difference is that she now has round pupils instead of cat ones.

This gorgeous gal is a Metis Doll Lhasa in ivory, and I also painted her hands, feet, and her chest piece. I think she turned out really gorgeous, and her nails have a delicate red shimmer to them!

She's a fashion 1/4 scale doll, so she's very spindly and has a smaller head. I'm glad the detailing turned out good anyway, it's always a worry I have that zoomed in the work looks sloppy or out of scale...

Here she is assembled! She's got the Angel bust, but the client wanted me to blush some cleavage onto her, so I did. We're both happy with the results.

Here we have a real blast from the past, a Hujoo Girl in apricot skin! I remember these dolls from when I got into the hobby back in 2011, they were a real staple as a budget friendly BJD company. She's not made of resin, but ABS plastic instead. It's a pity they are no longer around, the dolls were really cute!

The client did warn me that she was a little scratched up around the lips from a past faceup removal, which did become apparent when I was blushing her. But overall I think she turned out lovely.

This lovely gal is a Fairyland MNF Celine OE & SP in natural skin, but color matched to Bimong normal skin.

Luckily the colors weren't too far apart, only took two layers of pastels to match the parts together well. I had fun with these faceups, especially the nude lips! I'd never attempted that look before, so it took a few tries to get it right, but it worked out and now these lovely heads have juicy lips.

See what I mean on the color match? Just about a perfect now! The heads had been more yellow toned rather than pinky-peach toned like her Bimong body.

The kind client sent me owner pics right away when she received the heads back. She even did a video reviewing the faceups happily.

I got to do a fun faceup on a Dream Valley Rita in purple skin. I love working on unusual resin colors but it's rather rare I get to...

This handsome fella here is an Island Doll Shukaku(new) in on the first 46cm strong boy body in normal yellow skin. He is modeled after Bill Kaulitz from 2008. I couldn’t figure out how many or what kind of earrings he had back by then, so I opted out of them. I did replace his eyebrow ring with studs as they are less likely to fall off the faceup that way.

The arm tattoo was a difficult to do, but I won in the end! I penciled it first and then painted over it with acrylic and a brush.

I also got to paint a Popovy Sisters Little Owl on a version II body with version V hands in beige. She was a little easier to master with not needing to paint her eyes too.

I'm always fascinated by how detailed Popovy Sisters dolls are, they really don't leave anything to the imagination!

My secondhand Iplehouse EID Camilla in peach gold skin needed a dramatic faceup to represent the queen that she is. She is on the nSID body.

Painting her was a huge pain in the neck as I kept chipping and scratching her blushing with my nails accidentally... So I basically blushed her a lot heavier than I intended to initially. At least she turned out pretty regardless...
