Once in a while, I find myself looking at pictures of an old flame and I just feel numb to it. Kind of like I have no idea who this person is.. I never met them, it was all a dream. But then sometimes I'll be walking by a building, or a song will play and it's like you can phyiscally feel the memories just at the sight of the building, or at certain melodies of the song you're listening to. I feel happy about it for a breif second, it's the realization that it wasn't a dream and this person is real after all. Then there's this heavy sinking feeling I get when I realize just how much time has passed and that yes,this person is real.. but not mine. They're just a flicker of light now, and they're what keeps the memories from getting lost in the dark. I don't want to feel ashamed or guilted for the things I feel any more. It seems like missing a person has an expiration date, and when I go beyond that it's socially unacceptable. I don't really understand what the big rush is to move from person to person anyway.
