Surprisingly, not a lot changed for Danny after the portal incident.
He came back relatively healthy, something extremely surprising given his halfa status.
The little, small detail that was really a mild inconvenience was… the nosebleeds.
Heavy ones, where the blood would come down his throat, making him swallow continuously while trying to stop the liquid from pouring out or going into his lungs.
Frostbite explained it was like when people get nosebleeds due to the change in temperature, his ghost side being too cold and reacting to his human side being too warm.
Nothing he couldn’t endure, since it wasn’t something that happened on a daily basis.
What, on the other hand, was an inconvenience was the sheer amount of blood and the dramatic look of it.
The liquid would suddenly start dripping, staining his teeth and making him spit up the blood that would make its way into his mouth. He would often double over, trying not to make anything drip on his shirt, but that would make the blood run faster…
It was a mess.
Now in Gotham (or any other city, your choice how or why), he was wandering the streets, not even trying to stop the blood at this point, as it reached the end of his now unsavable shirt.
KAEYA : Master Diluc, don't worry *hic* even with all those scars all over your body you are still sexy.
Diluc coughs, rolling his eyes, and takes another sip of champagne.
KAEYA : They're signs of survival. This eye though, no *hic* no matter how much I'll cover it, it will be ugly. And I will be ugly.
DILUC : Kaeya, how MUCH wine did you have already? That's enough now-!
Diluc tries to take away the bottle from Kaeya, but falls over him instead. The bottle rolls away.
KAEYA : R- *hic* right, go. Unleash your anger on me. I am a traitor. I should have had my other eye removed too ... so you don't have to be on your guard about *hic* letting a glimpse of dissapointment seep to your eyes. But you know, p- part of me is glad you hate me, I cannot imagine a world where you pretended I didn't exist.
Kaeya cries, taking Diluc aback.
KAEYA : Master Diluc, I'm sorry you have to look at my face ... I'm sorry ...
Diluc sighs.
DILUC : (Didn't we discuss this before? Oh Kaeya, insecurity doesn't fit you in the slightest.) Don't worry, you have been forgiven, forever ago ...
He hugs the crying blue-haired young man, as they both still lay on the ground.
Next morning...
KAEYA : Greetings, master Diluc!
DILUC : Ah, Kaeya.
Diluc ponders for a moment as he drinks his morning herbal tea, while Kaeya prances down the stairs.
DILUC : ... Can I see beneath your eyepatch?
KAEYA : What ... what, why??
DILUC : No particular reason, I just want to look at it in daylight. You showed it to me yesterday without hesitation.
Kaeya : (The only time I can't handle wine, I do something like this???)
Diluc stares, making Kaeya bashfully comply.
KAEYA : Sorry, it's kind of horrifying, isn't it?
Diluc's thumb strokes the cheek under the eyeball-less socket. He smiles, bringing Kaeya some confort.
DILUC : No, it isn't.
The red-haired young man didn't look away, nor was uncomfortable, when the gaping hole on Kaeya's face was uncovered.
DILUC : (Damn, I am never bringing him this imported brand again, or else he might lose more than his composure.)

Ok, so I'm not sure how OOC is this (and I'm sure it's alot, lol), but I had some lore elements mixed up before writing this. I was mainly speculating how the damage on Kaeya's right eye looks, as most fanart depict it with a scar (as it's described in the Wiki) and/or in a different color (golden).
I was thinking that having it eyeball-less would make it his achillean heel, for he is witty and charming by design. It can be a nice contrast, if you don't find the idea too gruesome of course. XD
Käärijä went to UMK, won triumphantly, went to ESC, painting Finland and rest of Europe green but in the end the grown slipped from his hands, and now he returns as evil queen, claiming five trophies and wearing black gown, ready to avenge the world for being robbed.
Fun fact! Apparently if you just ignore Jaheira during act II and never speak to her, her corpse follows you around in act III. Even if she didn't die during the cult battle. I can't revive her either because I never recruited her. So she's just...Here lol
