Hiya! I love your blog so much! I’m asking (begging) for recs but I know I’m very specific and I’ve already read.. well every fic I could find but I thought maybe with luck you could tell me about some I haven’t read yet. I’m a bit of a big angst addict, I’m wondering if you know fics where Draco is absolutely broken, dragged through the mud, in pieces and in pain. (Like On one’s knees by Pir8fancier, Lessons in Grace and Decorum and Teenage Wasteland by GallaPacidia (well any of her works really), You’ve got the antidote for me, Unknown by DorthyAnn, Vale Sanare,..) Thanks for your time <3
I didn't have too many of these to rec so I spent the last couple of days reading these - and I've found a couple of new favourites. If you only read one fic on this list, please read A Big Black Sky; it is beautiful.
● Expectant by loveglowsinthedark. Rated Explicit, word count 62k.
After he accidentally gets Malfoy pregnant on a drunken fuck at a club, Harry doesn't anticipate that it'd be just as easy to fall in love with him.
● A Big Black Sky by alexmeg. Rated M, word count 90k. (I absolutely bawled like a baby with this fic but it has the most wonderful happy ending.)
Draco shifts his head as he turns to look at Scorpius, his cheek touching the pillow. "Did you know that…" He pauses, his throat convulsing, and it sounds audible in the silence, besides Michael's steady, even breathing from the other bedroom.
Scorpius is staring back at him, in wait of something new to learn, a beautiful and intelligent child. He has Draco's mind. He has Draco's eyes and nose and mouth and hair. He is his. All his. All he has of Michael are his wild curls and the green of his eyes, and sometimes he looks into them and imagines that they aren't Michael's, but someone else's.
Draco leans his head closer, biting the quiver out of his lips before he breathes a laden and shuddering exhale, and he whispers, "You are my star in a big black sky."
● You Open Always (Petal By Petal) by birdsofshore. Rated Explicit, word count 65k.
Harry’s not the kind of person who pays for sex. He really isn’t. Until he is.
● "Dad Says" by Gallaplacidia. Word count 39k.
Eleven-year-old Scorpius starts writing to Harry. Harry starts to fall in love with Draco through his portrayal in his son's letters.
Featuring an extremely remorseful Draco living with muggles and working at a second-hand book shop, an isolated Harry, and a Scorpius who's dreading going to Hogwarts because he knows he'll be bullied there.
● Fairies, Fathers and Forevers by CrystelGreene. Rated Explicit, word count 54k.
All Harry was looking for that night in Knockturn Alley was a quick hook-up. But then he finds himself saving Draco Malfoy from a Dementor attack and taking him home to take care of his injuries and shattered sense of self.
● Vortex by xanthippe74. Rated M, word count 20k.
The idea of perfectly-matched soulmates feels more like a curse than a blessing to Draco. Who would want a soulmate who was a schoolyard bully, a Death Eater, and a convicted felon? Certainly not Harry Potter. And Draco is determined to take this secret to the grave.
● The Shadowy Corners by kedavranox. Rated Explicit, word count 29k.
Fifteen years after the war, Draco is still struggling to survive. Living in squalor and under heavy Ministry restrictions, Draco takes Pansy's advice on an option he had never thought to consider before. A means to regain everything he lost and more, courtesy of the wizarding hero --Harry Potter.
● My Thoughts Are The Cold Kind by lopingloup. Rated M, word count 15k.
There's something wrong with Draco Malfoy and as hard as he tries to hide his failings, Harry Potter seems determined to unearth him.
● Whatever You Want, Draco Malfoy by DorthyAnn. Rated Explicit, word count 77k.
Draco lost his home and the only society he knew after the war. He ended up living in the muggle world, making new friends and new connections and maybe some sort of peace. Even if that peace was usually found at the bottom of a bottle. It was enough for him. He was content to just exist.
Then Harry Potter decided to ruin everything.
● Tuesday Nights by firethesound. Rated Explicit, word count 15k.
The absolute last place Harry expected to see Malfoy was in a rundown Muggle cinema on a Tuesday night.
● Getting There by Rickey. Rated Explicit, word count 20k.
An attack on Malfoy Manor ends up being not what it first seemed, as Auror Harry Potter finds out. Hermione Granger-Weasley finds herself appointed as Draco's Healer, designated to work with him, the survivor of a suicide attempt. Taking his first steps down the road of self-healing, Draco discovers that life is worth living, and there's probably room for someone else to share his path.
