IF YOURE LOOKING FOR THE PERFECT MANNEQUIN BOY DO I HAVE NEWS FOR YOU!
INTRODUCING
LUCKY 13 BY SOOZAFONE
Lucky 13 is a completely FREE 3d print file available on Printables by Soozafone! If you have access to a 3d printer or can get someone ro print it for you, I 1000% recommend it!
Lucky has the same amount if not more articulation than most artist mannequins and is SO MUCH CHEAPER. While filament is expensive, I was able to print mine at my university’s print lab for 13$. 13!$!!!
This figure is comparable to the Armature 9 models, and in my opinion, BETTER just because of the customizability and free print use! Im currently working on making dragon wings for mine.
Lucky comes with the armature, skin, a stand, 8 different hand poses, and several accessories, but the community has HUNDREDS of remixes and new additions custom made for this little guy.
And the best part is, is that the creator, Soozafone, is ALREADY working on a version 2!! Check him out on reddit at r/Soozafone!
I am so in love with my own figure and am so excited to see all the new updates. If you’re looking for pose reference but dont want to fork over hundreds on a figure, PLEASE! Check out Lucky 13!

I literally cant recommend this figure enough, Im already planning on printing a few more because I love it so much.
I hope this gives all the other artists a fun little project, because I certainly had a blast putting mine together!
Happy printing!!
idk what I'd do without the chain drawing trick its literally the best thing ever
Chain drawing trick:
HI! I really adore the poses you use for character refs/outfit lineups, they look so fluid and alive!!! If it's ok to ask, do you have any specific place you get pose references from or have any recommendations? I always struggle with finding references for my characters xD
Hello! So a lot of times I use the magic poser app on my iPad to come up with poses if I need something specific. Other times I will look on Pinterest. Secret hack is look up underwear models/sets or swimsuits. Those are as close to nakee as you get sometimes. But those are good for people just standing there in varied poses.
A lot of times tho I just pull up a pic that has a close body type to whatever I’m drawing and use it for anatomy ref while I come up with the pose myself. It’s nice to have somethin to glance at even if I’m not drawing it shot for shot.

10 days left for my newest Kickstarter, Drawing Cheat Codes 2!
I don't do tutorials but, having seen a post on the difficulty of sketching circles digitally, I will share my personal preferences for when I need a line to meet itself in an O kind of way.
- I don't actually like using proper circles but when I need one, I'm not above using a plastic stencil on top of my tablet. They're cheap and abundant and you can still get a nice hand-drawn feel by modulating pen pressure
- More often than not, I draw, undo, draw, undo, draw, undo- until I get a circle that's circle enough for my liking
- Use a circle tool and freehand trace over it
I doubt any of this will come across as particularly wise or game-changing to anyone. However, in a space where I've watched hundreds of artists dig at each other over processes, shortcuts, and program hacks, I hope it's useful to anyone to hear that doing it in a klunky or roundabout way is absolutely valid if it gets results you like.
If it's dumb but it works, it ain't dumb.
Talking down to folks who don't find drawing programs universally intuitive isn't helpful. I slogged through 4yrs of art school critiques where kids would rather flex their own resources in service of dunking on each other than listen to the person asking for help and that's the opposite of a supportive community.
Art hack: DO NOT SCAN PENCIL!!!!
Graphite is reflective and therefore will shine the light back at the scanner and will appear nonexistent. Always ink before you scan! Or use a non-reflective medium…but still this will save you tons of stress and redos!
Go forth and scan! ((Also feel free to add on))
Can anyone drop some drawing tips. During quarantine I would like to enhance my skills. I’m definitely a beginner and could have not procrastinated till now but now or never right ?
