Pages from a zine I made back in 2013. These are all drawings I drew whilst working in my first call centre job in Bristol. This was the first of many call centre jobs I’ve worked in various cities and countries. Call centres played a very significant part in my art career over my twenties as a place where I could make money to afford to live whilst also spending most of the day drawing at a desk whilst chatting to strangers on the phone. I find drawing comes very naturally when you’re sat at the same desk for 8 hours every day and aren’t rushing to get a drawing finished or worryyied about how much time you have to actually make art. I think if I’d had jobs where I couldn’t draw over those years I would have found that I barely had any time to make art so I’m weirdly grateful for this. Especially to the call centres where they really didn’t care what I did and the ones where I had big gaps between each call and could research stuff online on the work computer whenever I wanted to.
