Two figures stood atop the building edge. The smaller one perched on the ledge, hands hidden in coat pockets. The taller stood on the roof, hood pulled over his head and eyes covered. Silver strands fluttered beneath the edge of black leather. Heartless swarmed in the streets below but neither made a motion to move. Both stood in silent contemplation, strategizing, thinking, preparing.
The largest heartless, a massive beast with gold and red embellish, settled in the courtyard by the fountain. The only place with enough room for it. Smaller heartless wandered amongst the cobblestone alleyways, claws digging into the walls, destroying, but aimless yet. They could clear the small heartless, working through the labyrinth streets before taking on the big one, or make a choke point and funnel them in--
A hand laid over the top of Xion’s head. She looked-up, Riku had stepped-up onto the ledge with her. His fingers spread along the base of her skull, weaving through short strands. It wouldn’t be black to him she mused, maybe brown or blond or red depending on who he missed more. Nails scratched against her scalp, gentle and caring, Xion leaned into the touch.
Then Riku put his hand atop her head and ruffled her hair. Xion grunted, batting his hand away, a small grin spreading. In his hand Riku summoned his keyblade, pulling back his hood. Xion summoned her own. He jumped before her, charging into battle. She looked at the weapon in her hand, smile vanishing at the sight of the gold and silver blade.
