It was one of the usual fancy business parties that her fiancé would host and she dreaded them. They reminded her of home too much, but she did care greatly for him and she wasn’t going to miss such a big event because of her stupid mommy-issues. After greeting his guests and doing some schmoozing, Alexis took it upon herself to disband from the group and tell her fiancé that she would go get herself a glass of water. She didn’t want to have any alcohol in her system, since she knew it would only be a reckless move considering drunk Alexis is not particularly professional. Making her way over to where the glasses of water were, she took one from a tray before making her way around the house. It was gorgeously decorated and she decided to take a look around. Alexis went from room to room admiring different paintings, but one stood out to her. She had seen this painting before. The persistence of memories. It was a painting that always made her feel sad. And it was because out of all the memories that she had, only the bad one persisted. She doesn’t remember a happy time in her childhood that involved her mother. Staring at the painting, she could only think about how much she respected the artist. The fact that his painting could cause her to have such an emotional reaction bothered but her amazed her at the same time.
