The congregation

Knox had found them. Matthew and Diana were caught in bed as they were dragged out and seperated. Diana screamed as her husband was restrained his eyes turning black. Matthew growled and twisted lost to his blood rage. Knox was thrilled.

Matthew was brought before the congregation in chains. Diana had been taken by the witches restrained but allowed to sit, they didn’t seek to kill her, instead, they wanted to control her. Diana fought her restraints when she saw her husband.

He was wild and bloodied covered in scratches from tearing himself apart. There was none of the Oxford scholar she had fallen in love with, Matthew had been replaced by a wild frightened animal desperate to escape and kill.

“Now you can all see what Baldwin de Clermont has been hiding. His brother has blood rage he must be executed as well as all of his family” Diana screamed as her fingers tingled, Matthew roared fighting the restraints but the vampires holding him were stronger than him. Baldwin looked at Matthew conflicted in his choice.

Supermarket continued

Matthew stood staring at the aisles. As a vampire food and therefore food shopping, wasn’t something he usually had to worry about. He looked back down at the list Diana had written and let out an involuntary growl of frustration. There were hundreds of choices!

Breakfast. The twins and Diana needed food for breakfast every morning. He stood staring at the loaves of bread before him as he tried to remember which brand Diana favoured most. He glanced back down on the list.

Bread

Cereal

Eggs

Milk

Steak for you!

Wines (you pick Matthew!)

Cheese

Why hadn’t she written which one she wanted? He thought desperately as he started pulling loaves off the shelves and examining them. There were people around him bustling about barley stopping to glance at the different brands. He heaved a sigh and simply prayed these were what Diana wanted.

He was quicker after that, taking his best guess that he was choosing right. He was looking st wines when his phone rang. It was Ysabeau.

“Maman, are you Well?”

“Yes Matthew I just wondered if the twins were coming today?” He smiled, his mother loved the children.

“Yes they are but I have to finish shopping first” Ysabeau let out a laugh at the thought of Matthew being domestic.

“I wish you luck!”

Matthew had been sent by Diana to get the groceries for the week. Her work for the congregation and university was too much work to do housework on top of it.

He pulled the jaguar into the parking space and sighed as he parked and got out. He headed inside and closed his eyes as he was assaulted with smells and sounds overtaking his senses.

There were people everywhere, shouting to each other, children screaming, and terrible routine jazz playing over speakers.

He pulled out the list Diana had written him and grabbed a trolley. He was going to need it.
