How was HE the immoral loathesome twat? If he takes responsibility for what happened, fine, but employees do all kinds of shit behind their boss’ back that the boss ends up having to apologize for. Consider that.
I'm sorry if I wasn't clear but I have a lot of dislike for News International as a whole. Is he taking responsibility or is he doing what he has to to protect his brand? I reserve the right to be as cynical as possible where his corporation is concerned.
He may not have known the exact details of the extent of the hacking but I refuse to believe that it is not an atmosphere that is fostered by the group that led those individuals to think they could behave that way. That sort of behaviour is endemic in that corporation. Murdoch's newspapers are one of the worst things published in this country, pathetically parading as news. When his publications are uncovering all these 'exclusives' that grab the attention and boost reading figures (he is a businessman, after all), you think he really cares about how they got their information? How they got these exclusive stories before their rivals? Loathesome, yes.
He closed down NotW immediately, surely putting some innocent workers out of job, rather than searching for those responsible. If you're going to be a spearhead for a company, then you have to ultimately responsible for what goes on, IMO. He certainly reaps the rewards of his empire's highs and successes so why not their crushing lows?

I just finished it and it’s FANTASTIC! A lot of great history. I’m just a little miffed they didn’t cover William Castle as much as they should have.
