Why I like them

goddd WHERE DO I BEGIN??????? WHERE DO I BEGIN 2 TELL THE STORY OF HOW GREAT A LOVE CAN B……

ok ok… like….to avoid writing an entire essay here, i’ll just sum up. my favourite thing about him as a character is that he’s just intrinsically good. just a pleasant, good-mannered, well-intentioned, genuinely good person. some ppl think he’s too perfect & it makes him boring, but for me he is literally the best character i’ve ever encountered in a literary work <3 I can truly and honestly say he is my all-time favorite character.

I love that he’s a bit dumb sometimes, I love that he’s all uptight and proper (although he’s loosened up a bit in the later books - the essence still remains though), I LOOOOOVE how selfless and self-sacrificial he is, I love that he’s a bit of a prude, I love that he was in all probability still a virgin at 31 I’VE SPENT WAY 2 MUCH TIME THINKING ABOUT THIS, i love that he cares about his clothes so much….. man there are so many things i love about him the list would be endless. I want to go into a deep analysis why I think he’s amazing but I’m not smart enough to put my feelings into words 3

Favorite episode (scene if movie)

o god there are so many, but one of my favorites is when they’re all stuck on the island and Laurence just beats one of the sailors the fuck up lmao. i was like YAAAAASSSSSSSSSS LAURENCE U GO GIRL when reading that part.

another big favorite is when after saving Tharkay in BoT they’re in his tent and Tharkay is like “bruh have u noticed the top of ur head is about to come off” and Laurence is like “shhh bae that ain’t no thang” and i’m like

and then there’s the scene in the first book when Laurence just walks up to Rankin, tips him out of his chair and just d r a g s him out to Levitas. basically any time Laurence is being all angry and/or authoritative i’m like Y A S

i won’t even mention pg 290 of blood of tyrants i think we all know my feelings on that

Favorite season/movie

i’ll just do fav book for this one. For Laurence moments, definitely Victory of Eagles. All that sad n broken Laurence, hurts so good <3

also a stupid headcanon: laurence can’t cook for shit. he can’t even fry an egg. cause even though he’s used to being on short rations cause he’s a navy man, he’s never had to cook for himself, so. can he even make his own tea??? probably not

This reminds me a lot of the art style in 101 Dalmatians/The Aristocats!! Idk if that's what you were going for but it made me very happy :)

Good eye! Very close (I love the background design of those movies and keep wanting to do something with that look)--for this one I was shooting at something between that and Joseph Holt's work; a little bolder and more stylized/toony.  

I'm extremely nervous and faily at backgrounds so I've been trying to challenge myself with something new every time.  So I'm glad it made you happy :D
