Paintbrush 3: YARN WEIGHT! I used Thick & Quick Woolease in Bloodstone, and a red mohair on US11 needles. I went bold. It was too bold... but fun. #dreamerchallenge #ahoraknits #merinastrand

Paintbrush 4: COLOR! This is my favorite so far. I used Chroma fingering in Confetti colorway and Fisherman’s Wool I’m Natural colorway. Starting with just Natural, then holding 2 strands of Confetti, THEN!... holding one Confetti and one Natural for alternating rows. Paintbrush 2: FIBER! I used a US 5 with a mystery mottled color variation purple, and a black and white mohair. The mohair transition isn’t obvious since they are pretty long color changes. #dreamerchallenge #arohaknits #merinastrand

Using different sizes of needles columnwise or stitchwise never crossed my mind until I got the task to do so via day 1 of the Dreamer Challenge hosted by @arohaknits . Changing needles rowwise is easy so I thought of doing it columnwise. Just like a basket weave where knits and purls exchange positions, the subtle effect is what I wanted to accomplish although all you can see are knit stitches. My needles are 6.5mm and 2mm. It's just too fiddly, though, so it's taking me forever. #dreamerchallenge #knittersofinstagram

My swatch for Day 1 of @arohaknits #dreamerchallenge . Today we explored using changes in needle size to modify a stockinette swatch. I used fingering weight yarn, size US8 needles and size US0 needles. I started with thick stripes of the looser gauge broken up by thin stripes of the tighter gauge and then slowly transitioned the stripes to be more dominant in the tighter gauge. This shaped the swatch and made for some very interesting texture play. At one point I was pretty sure I was accidentally knitting a dalek, but after blocking I think I am same from extermination.
