Hi, I’ve seen some others have the same problem. Turns out it’s not the code, but most likely a setting on your browser. You can google the problem and see if there’s a fix for it. I can confirm that your theme works fine in my browser, opens in the same window.

Just wondering what are Parrotlets perssonalities like? Also does their gender make a difference?

Parrotlets are, as the common description, big birds in a tiny body.  They’re very active, mischievous, determined, silly, demanding, fearless, and brutal, in general, all birds are individuals so personality traits are really unique between one another.  The biggest thing with parrotlets is that you absolutely need to understand avian body language, as you should with any parrot, parrotlets will not hesitate to rip in to you if you ignore their boundaries unlike other species who may be more lenient towards mistakes.  Parrotlets are frequently called aggressive demons or other negative terms to describe aggressive behaviour because people don’t treat them with respect, they bring home the tiny bird expecting them to be easy and then don’t know what to do when the bird defends itself.  The bird lashes out for the human’s mistake, the human lashes out at the bird for biting and the bird ends up having to continually aggress to make the human listen which can make them extremely unmanageable.  Male parrotlets are more likely to be aggressive, more vocal, and have a better chance of picking up on human speech (it is very raspy, you have to know what they’re saying in order to really understand any of it) but aside from that there aren’t major differences between the two.

When given the right care they can be complete sweeties, they’ll love scritches or hiding out in your hair, diving straight in to the crook of your neck to avoid bed time, foolishly trying to get in to everything you’re doing, and generally being pretty curious about the world.  They always have their boundaries that need to be respected, if they’re showing you that they don’t like something you need to stop or you will get bitten, but as long as their caretaker actually takes the time to listen instead of forcing reactions they can be a pleasure to care for.

Parrotlets are a species that I would not recommend to individuals without previous avian experience, they can be a handful with their tendency to get in to everything and more often than not the bird will end up with aggressive issues that the caretaker can’t handle at the time, it’s not good for the bird and it’s really unpleasant for everyone involved.  The number of times I make a post and have someone comment “so and so had one of those and it was a vicious hell spawn” is really just feeding my point at this rate.  They’re small but they don’t act like it, Zeeby once attempted to start a fight with a Jardine (a bird 5-6 times taller than her with a beak that could envelop her whole head), they really just do not realize how small they are and can get in to a heck of a lot of trouble because of it.  They aren’t afraid to defend themselves and when people don’t understand avian body language that can easily spiral out of control.

Not much special that needs to be given to them, just make sure they’re getting a nice varied diet with perhaps with more orange veggies, beans, kale, broccoli just to aid in the production of keratin. Keeping the diet varied for good overall health and feather production
