So I'm very interested in watching the Made in Abyss anime when it comes out but the only thing that is holding me back is not knowing what i might be in for in terms of the graphic content. I tried looking around for a trigger list of some sort but couldn't find anything besides the "oh it may have some scenes of bloody violence". Do you think you could key me in as to what i'm in for in terms of themes or subject matter?
Well, to put it bluntly, the manga does get very very gory at some points with things like body horror and the such (i personally don’t mind gore and violence because i’ve grown numb to it)
What I find the most repulsive about it (and what I think will turn away the most people) is that the manga has explicit l0li/sh0ta (you get the deal) moments,though I’m hoping that the anime removes those scenes because they really add nothing to the story and are plain uncomfortable, even in the manga they feel super out of place
on the positive side: the story is good, the world building is fantastic, the environments are amazing, the characters are good and the creature designs feel like something out of a ghibli film..it is a huge mixed bag for me because I’m a sucker for well made fantasy worlds and it would really be one of my favourite manga if it wasn’t for what I mentioned above
again I don’t know how much the anime will tone it down or remove..chances are it probably won’t get to the part where it starts getting really dark/edgy but we’ll see
