Stop and GO.
Wish upon a star... I did that a lot as a child. I recently listened to a podcast that said when you wish for something to happen that is largely out of your control, it is a lot less likely that what you were wishing for will actually happen. It almost seems like wishing or dreaming will get you nowhere. Why is that?
It is beautiful to have high hopes and aspirations. It gives you endless possibilities for whatever you dream of in life. It is not all bad. But wishing for what is out of your control can seem pointless and possibly self-destructing. Especially, as an adult. Those thoughts may just hold you back. It is kind of like taking sanctuary in your dreams, like retreating... and well, yes, it can be comforting. But also kind of depressing, to wait and wish and hope and create dreams that are out of your hands to materialize.
I guess at some point during our growth from children into adults, we learn to aspire towards fulfilling our ultimate dreams by creating tangible building blocks to get us there. We learn to decide which dreams are actually important to us, and which dreams hold no real substance but maybe just sounded cool at the time. We are likely still learning and choosing into our old age.
We each have our own path. We learn how to work around and adjust to obstructions in our path. Maybe, we learn to wish less and instead to plan, to do, to create, and to get up and go! Maybe, we eventually forget about that ultimate dream, because we are enjoying our very present life so much. But little do we know, how much that ultimate dream is engrained in our brains and dictates our every decision. And then, what do you know, our dream just happens to comes true.
Every single day, we have the opportunity to create enjoyable steps along our journey. It is about creating tangible goals that you enjoy, that will lead you to the unstoppable person you dreamed of becoming. But you can't just expect it will happen. It won't fall out of the sky. You gotta go get it, and make it happen.
Stop wishing and dreaming, start planning and doing.
