Avatar!DreamTeam AU by @goshikle So I really liked the designs and the whole concept of mixing both things so now here I am with these minecraft boyos, and since I haven’t seen their cannon fullbodys pls consider this half assed boots. PS: I tried to respect the fact that Dream has more muscle in this AU in comparison to the others but I still wanted to give Sapnap some. Probably gonna do the others when they come out, can’t wait for the comic or the fanfics that will come out of this!
A (maybe) oneshot of @goshikle‘s dream team avatar au. First time I’ve ever done something like this I hope you enjoy! :) (Trio oneshot is next!)

He wasn’t sleeping again. George could tell.
Back home, George was labeled as a heavy sleeper. While that may have been true, George always seemed to have some sort of... Intuition when someone was awake around him.
Dream never slept, and he figured that out quick.
There were multiple other signs, of course. Other than George witnessing Dream sitting up in the middle of the night when he thought him and Sap were dead asleep. Dream always seemed to have tired bags under his eyes, and he always seemed paranoid. George didn’t quite know if that was because his horrid sleep schedule, or a messy past, or maybe... It was just an Avatar thing.
He tried to not think about it. Every time he heard Dream get up, he just pretended it wasn’t happening. He tried to just be grateful for a chance to help someone as great as the Avatar reach their goal. But here he was in his fluffy sleeping bag, staring up at Dream, who was wide awake in the dead of night with his back turned to him.
This was different.
George noted, Dream never usually stood when he “woke” up. He usually just sat there, occasionally glancing over towards him and Sap.
This time, though, Dream was standing... He was walking away. He saw his green earth kingdom garb (which looked yellow to him) fade out of his sight.
George, in his panic, quickly sat up.
What should he do? Did Dream just leave him and Sap? Is he coming back? Where is he going?
George on an impulse stood up, he couldn’t ignore this, even if he wanted to. With new resolve, he grabbed his goggles, and charged forward toward the direction he saw the masked Avatar go to. I’m going to regret this. George’s worst thoughts came to surface. Being a waterbender, he was told it was element of change, that he shouldn’t resist it, but accept it. He wasn’t sure if he could accept the worst case scenarios his mind continued to come up with the longer he followed Dream. Eventually he found himself in a small forest, he could’ve gone anywhere. There was no clear direction for where Dream went. At least... Not one that George could see.
Paralyzed with indecisiveness, George looked in multiple directions around the forest hoping for some sort of hint, some sort of idea where he could’ve gone. To no avail. George sighed heavily and looked down at the grass below him, maybe he shouldn’t have followed in the first place. Maybe Dream just went out for a walk and he’d be back next to him and Sap to continue their journey to the North. Maybe he’s just working himself up.
There’s nothing keeping him from going back, but after minutes of dead silence in the dark, George continued to go straight. He couldn’t answer why even if he wanted to.
He walked awhile, seeing the vaguely different yet similar trees, bushes, and flowers, as he went on... And on...
If he kept walking any longer, he was going to get lost. But the intuition in his mind told him to keep walking, and he never argued with it before, and he was not going to start now.
Eventually, after what seemed like forever, George found the end of the forest, and two parted bushes as if someone pushed them aside.
Slowly, George walked to where they parted. It was a cliff side. Just on the very edge was a silhouette sitting, it looked like their feet were dangling off the edge. It only took one more step closer to George to notice it was Dream.
He seemed... Calm. George never saw that in him before. It was usually the well-timed quips, the sassy remarks, and stubborn as all hell attitude that defined Dream to him. But here he seemed calm, like he was blissfully unaware of all the weight he had on his shoulders as the Avatar, how many people like George himself were counting on him to save everything.
He seemed happy.
George let out a very quiet sigh of relief, feeling great comfort in knowing that Dream wasn’t going to leave them behind... At least he was very sure he wouldn’t.
Slowly, George turned around... One missed step later and-
“AH-” George shrieked as a massive chunk of rock flew right passed his face, quick as lightning.
“...George?!” Dream called out to him, seemingly in disbelief.
George, feeling hot with embarrassment, cleared his throat. “Hello... Dream.” He greeted, stiff as a plank of wood.
“What are you doing here, I thought you were asleep! What? Is Sap here too?” Dream mini-ranted, seeming more afraid than angry despite what his tone suggested.
“N-No.” George shook his head frantically, “Its just me.”
“Well, why?” Dream asked once more, in a firmer tone of voice that made George nervous and frantic for a response.
“I... Well... I could... Ask you the same thing, Dream!” George managed to utter out. “Why are you here? Shouldn’t you be asleep?”
Dream’s visible facial features looked disheveled, and more than little bit annoyed. He placed a hand over his eyes rubbed them.
“Alright, alright. Fine, I guess you got me there.” Dream muttered to him with an edge of snark.
“You didn’t answer my question.” George replied.
“Hey! I asked you first. Why are you out here?”
George broke eye contact with the young Avatar, “W-Well... I... Sorta saw you get up... I guess... You could say... I got a little....” He trailed off.
“Worried? About me?” Dream finished the sentence for him, gesturing to himself with slight offense. “Come on, Georgie, I’m the Avatar, I can handle any enemy or trickster.” He rolled his eyes with an apparent smirk.
“That’s not what I was worried about, Dream.” George shot back, with little hesitation.
Dream’s arms dropped back down to his sides, his eyes darting to the ground, “Oh.” He merely said, evidently understanding what George meant now.
The two stood in silence for a brief moment before George broke it.
“May I... Join you?” He asked timidly.
Dream nodded, “Of course.”
George stood for a bit in shock at his answer, and watched as Dream sat back down at the edge of the cliff, and patting a spot next to him, inviting George to come. George couldn’t hide his grin as he slowly walked over and sat next to Dream.
The view from up there, it was astounding. Small villages could be seen with tiny lights through windows, the cool breeze blew the tree leaves like clouds through the day time sky.
“This view is nothing.” Dream said, somehow knowing what George was thinking by the look on his face, “Wait till you see up there.” He pointed upwards towards the sky. On instinct George drifted his head up, and there it was. A perfect, clear sky view of the stars, and crescent moon shining brighter than the village lights below, or the fireflies around them.
Curiosity got the better of George, “Dream... Have you been here before?” He asked, his awe inspired eyes, meeting up with Dream’s.
“A few times.” Dream responded to George’s surprise, “All of them were before I knew... I was... Y’know... The Avatar.” George looked at Dream with even more curiosity, he could tell Dream knew that he wanted to know more, “Being up here reminds me of how things were before, it reminds me of a time where I didn’t have to be the world’s savior, I didn’t have to be the new life to live up to all these other crazy past ones, a time where all I had to be was... Dream Token.”
“You weren’t that... Before?” George asked in purposeful confusion.
Dream rolled his eyes, and lightly hit George on the shoulder, “Shush you know what I meant! I don’t have to be anything up here but myself.”
“But you are... Yourself.” George gestured to Dream up and down. “Does being the Avatar really make you... Less you?”
“It feels that way.” Dream replied, his knees shifted up to his chest as he hugged them, drifting his head up towards the sky again, “In a literal sense, no it doesn’t make me any less me. It just pushes these unrealistic expectations to live to, ones I can never even hope to, even get close to! When I found out I was the Avatar, George... My life as Dream Token ended. Being up here again after so long, makes me feel like I still have it. That I can still get it back.”
George was at a loss of what to say, in the heat of the moment, however, it just blurted out, “Dream, can I see you without your mask?”
It wasn’t the first time George, or even Sap had asked that question, but they’d usually get the same response while they usually varied in sass it all meant the same the thing. No.
George didn’t quite know what he expected then, a simple no, a “why do you wanna kiss?”, or even “I’ll just tell you whats under there. Nonya. Nonya business.” Anything other than what Dream actually said.
“...You’d just be disappointed.” Is what he said.
“...Disappointed..?” George asked, with genuine confusion this time.
“Yea. Disappointed.” Dream released his knees from his hug and dangled them over the edge again.
George locked his gaze with Dream, “Why would I be disappointed. I just wanna know the real you. I wanna see Dream Token, not Avatar Dream.”
Dream laughed, it wasn’t his usual tea kettle wheeze of a laughter, it was calm and quiet.
“Maybe someday... I’ll show you... Just... Not tonight.” Dream finalized.
George sighed, with a grin, “Fair enough.” He yawned lightly.
“I really hope Sap didn’t see this whole thing-” Dream cut himself off as George thunked onto his side, looking more tired than he was in that moment. Dream leaned up against George to counterbalance their weight, coming here tonight was more of an escape than he ever had. Even now with conscious to talk to, and it was just him and dark of night, and dead of silence... He couldn’t worry about tomorrow, or even an hour later. All he cared about was this one moment he shared, the first person to really truly see, the real him.
