Hi! This is kinda awkward but I was wondering if you ever felt uneasy when first posting art/stories of Ona x Connor/Nines? I've only ever done a private rp of an oc x Nines but I feel nervous possibly posting art/stories of an oc x canon char bc I'm a little worried I'll be attacked for it, or get harrassed bc people like someone else's oc with a canon char more or dislike my oc. Did you have to deal with any of that? Should I just do it anyway? (if I ever get the motivation/courage to). Ty<3

Nah, not awkward hon! It’s okay to ask stuff you wanna know or want a second opinion of.

Of course I was uneasy!! There’s always something be fear and rejection or negative feedback will be always one. I was terrified of people hating Ona or me shipping her with Connor or Nines. People sometimes really cannot distinguish reality from fantasy and just hold onto something for life support, not realising that this thing isn’t exclusive for them and cannot have any rights over the characters or series. Sharing is caring. We all love “X” character, so please, let’s unite through that love and stop hating on each other.

For now I have only faced such positivity for Ona and Connor that I cannot help but feel very blessed and lucky. There was that anon picking on Ona, but eh, fuck them. You may like her or be like, “okay that’s cute but I prefer___”, and that is completely okay. Nobody has to like her, but that doesn’t mean that people has to go to the creators and shit on them. Nope, bad.

Keep this in mind, it’s your OC, it’s your story you want to tell. No other OC is better or worse, it’s unique in their own way and it’s beautiful.

There are other artists in this fandom who draws “readers” or “OCs” and it’s okay. We are all adults and we can share. I saw OCs with Nines or Connor, hell, I’ve been asked to do commissions of them with other OCs and I was delighted to see more characters with our boys. I’ve been enjoying seeing more faces around here!

If, for example, people like Ona with Connor and they like it so much it’s like, their default or something, that’s so cool and I’m very honoured. But if another OC appears with Connor, they will not go to that other person with their OC and harass or attack them because “Ona is better, I like her better”. No. And if any of you do that, I will be very angry. You don’t want me angry.

OCs and selfships is a way to express our desires and ideas, a thing that sparks so much creativity that shouldn’t be frowned at at all.

I hope this encourages you to post your stuff without fear! Nobody has rights over anybody (well, quantic dream but shhhhh) so literally anyone can’t tell you to stop shipping your OC because it’s wrong or shameful. Fuck those people, honestly.
